Bought this for one of college classes. Glad I found it here for an affordable price. Arrived as expected.

This is a very well written textbook intended for upper-level undergraduates or first year graduate students, but it is also very appropriate for non-professionals who are interested in how learning more about various drugs and how they affect the brain and behavior.The topics are presented in a very logical order: 1) overview of basic neurobiology 2) detailed review of various neurotransmitters, their functions, and drugs that affect them 3) in depth chapters on various classes of drugs such as alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, etc.The writing is way above average for a textbook, explanations are well presented and filled with examples.Also, the bibliography section is great for those who want to explore more, and read the relevant primary and review papers.

This text clearly and concisely explains all the basics of neuroscience. It then moves into the most cutting edge research and knowledge about treatments in psychopharmacology. I am interested in a vey new and little known area of treatment, and was surprised to see it in this text. I am loving reading each day and am finding the information exciting. A great textbook.

Comprehensive, detailed and well written coverage of the subject -- I'm a clinical psychologist and have been reading a number of such text recently and found this one of the best. Not a handbook for prescribing -- focus is on the basic science of neurotransmitters and behavior -- but of great use to the clinician.

Had to get this book for a class. It's okay, but the way things are explained is a bit confusing- I had to read the same paragraph several times to get an idea of what the author was trying to say. Additionally, there were subjects that were just barely brushed on, although they were important to understanding entire concepts.

This was my bible throughout uni and I still use it after graduation. It is in depth but easy to understand and really. Gives you good knowledge and understanding of types of drugs in connection to brain processes.

Das Buch gibt einen sehr guten Überblick in die Thematik. Von historischer Sicht bis zum heutigen Gebrauch von Psychopharmaka ist jedliches Vorgehen gut beschrieben. Dieses Buch wurde mir von meinen Dozenten (Psychologen/Biologen) empfohlen. Für alle die Interesse im Bereich der klinischen Psychologie oder der Psychopharmakologie haben und des Englischen mächtig sind, kann ich dieses Werk nur wärmstens empfehlen.
