I found these chunks to be very "light" almost hollow, as if they had been bored by termites. It didn't look they had been, but they just don't feel as solid as I would expect. I've only used on one short cook and one long cook, and they seemed to burn OK, but again maybe too fast for a chunk, going back to the lack of density. Right now it's the only option I have for fruit wood chunk in my location. I'll finish the box and see if they change my mind, but not sure I'll buy it again just yet.

I can only guess that this wood is not fully dried as the volume is much less than I expected. I received a small box of large heavy wood chucks. Several previous orders of 10 pounds of wood chucks were about twice the size. When used, I can see the water/sap bubbling out the end as it gets hot. The smoking wood I normally purchase is much lighter as it is dryer and you can not see water seeping out as it heats up. I will order from other sources in the future.

I use the apple wood chunks in my Ooni pizza oven & they are EXCELLENT! I've ordered them at least 3x & every time they are good sized, nice dry wood...great price for the amount you get, as well!Highly recommend them!*Note - I've only tried the apple wood.
