Excellent replacement for the $&$*@ Apple TV Siri Remote
Apple TV is a great product with the absolutely worst remote control ever. The Channel Master Simple Remote has traditional buttons and works in a reliable and predictable way (you don't have to spend half your time putting closing the Audio menu when you were just trying to jump around in the video). The control is a good and convenient size. I wouldn't mind if it were a little thinner, but no complaints. Although not designed specifically for AppleTV, it conveniently has a prominent Menu button which is really useful. A number of reviews have commented that they were not able to turn the Apple TV box on with this remote, my Apple TV HD wakes up when I press the Home button. I have an auto-switching HDMI box, so I only need this control to use the TV and AppleTV.The universal remote feature is a little bit of a pain to set up, but for good reason. Instead of giving you a giant list of possible IR codesets, everything is programmed into the remote. You put it into universal learning mode, then press a button to advance through the built-in presets, checking to see if you have gain volume control. There are many, many combinations in the device - my TV set happened to be about 50 presses in. The remote functions work fine for power, and the volume control correctly operates my Sonos Beam soundbar.I'm using this with an older Panasonic TV and the (new) Sonos Beam soundbar connected on optical. You only lose 2 things here - Siri control, and this works only as IR. Not a compromise I would think twice about now that I actually can navigate with intention instead of everything being mis clicks and corrections.

A less complicated alternative to the Siri remote (even the new one)
The Channel Master Simple Remote for the Apple TV is built well and works as intended. It needs line-of-sight to function, but for my wife who is used to pointing remotes at the TV, that's not a problem. Channel Master's addition of a HOME button (missing on the Salt and many other remotes) makes it a complete replacement for the Siri remote. It's actually a bit easier to use than either Siri remote as it has dedicated skip ahead/back buttons that don't require a second press to continue playing as does the official remote. I'm really happy with the Channel Master and will be outfitting all our Apple TVs with them.

It Works Ok
Does okay as an Apple TV remote. Don’t expect good functions on Fast Forward or rewind. It only does 30 seconds at a time. No swipe up function to close out a program on ATV if it malfunctions. For fast forward - rewind - close outs I have to use my phone or the ATV remote. The on- off switch only works for the TV. You must use Menu to do that. Works out if the box - lacks some functionality and cannot be programmed through the ATV box.

This is a hidden gem if you want multiple remotes for a single Apple TV box
I've tried a lot of different interfaces over the past months with an ultimate goal of being able to do streaming TV with two remotes (one for me, one for my wife) that would work simultaneously.I just bought a couple of these as an experiment and have been very pleasantly surprised. It works immediately out of the box (once you pull the strip to activate the battery) with the Apple TV box, and you can program the on/off and volume keys for your TV, though in some cases I've had to go through 150 to more than 200 trial codes until I got one that worked, but even with all that, it took less than five minutes. They work on infrared rather than bluetooth, so no pairing required, and that's why you can have more than one of them simultaneously controlling the Apple TV box (great when you need to neutralize your spouse's poor choice of programming!).It's not perfect - every app might use some of the keys differently, but the remotes are cheap, functional, and highly usable if you don't need the "slickness" of the native Apple TV remote. I've actually hoarded a few extra because I don't think something this good is going to remain this cheap for too long! :)

Not Practical for Stream+
This review is specifically for this device's use as a Channel Master Stream+ DVR "Simple Remote" replacement. Thumbs down.Channel Master makes good products, so, I'm sure it works well with the other devices it was meant for, such as Apple TV, Roku, etc. There was a HUGE oversight with this product in regard to Stream+ DVR control, specifically it's ability to navigate YouTube. After further effort and testing, I've concluded this device is not adequate as a "Simple" replacement for the original Stream+ remote. You see... it has no BACK function, and the Stream+ version of YouTube does NOT have a BACK navigation screen icon that you can select! Amazing! Consequently, this renders the remote almost useless. You will get STUCK in channels you want to exit, or, videos you want to dump out of quickly. You can never get back to the YouTube menus of the usual Favorites, News, History, etc. etc. You have to reboot Stream+ and reprogram The Simple Remote to see the YouTube menus again. Obviously, not a practical work-around!Anyway, I'm sure this was an oversight when designing this Simple Remote for Stream+ users. I'm sure it works fine for the other non Channel Master devices it is intended to control. Thus, no complaints from those users.I was hoping somebody from Channel Master would get back to me with a Simple Remote keystroke that would simulate the original Stream+ remote BACK button function. I'm SURE that function could have been programmed in.So...sadly, I have to return this device. As Stream+ users' original remotes wear out, (as mine is!) I guess we are without a practical replacement. Unfortunate.
