Revolutionized my Mattress
When I moved into my dorm room and saw how uncomfortable the mattress was, I knew I needed to do something to make it better. But then when I came to Amazon and started looking at reviews for mattress pads, I was alarmed. Most pads had mostly stellar reviews, but then most of the cheaper ones had some real stinker one-star reviews sprinkled in, which alarmed me. What was I to do?I settled on this one, being willing to pay a bit more for some peace of mind, since the reviews here are great. I do not regret it. This very soft hunk of foam has made my awful, hard mattress quite comfortable. When I opened it, it took barely any time to fully expand. Less than 4 hours later, it was the normal shape. That might be because I got it on a hot summer day; if you buy this in the winter, your experience may vary. The instructions say, "Allow the mattress topper to be exposed to room temperature before removing from vinyl packaging if it is excessively cold."Some people complain about odors with memory foam pads. Mine had some odor, but it didn't bother me my first night, and it was completely gone by the second night. Some people complain memory foam pads being too hot. I've not had any unusual discomfort from heat while sleeping, despite it being summer. One of my worries was that it would be great at first, but then it would mold to my body in an uncomfortable way. Three weeks after buying it, it's still quite good. I hope to come back and update this review after six months to see if it still holds up.EDIT: Five months later it's still as great as it was the first night. I'm very pleased with this purchase.EDIT: It has been about a year now, and I'm still quite happy with this mattress pad.FINAL EDIT: When I moved out of my grad student housing, I finally retired this mattress pad because I didn't need it anymore. It was almost 3 years, but the pad was still working great. This was a good purchase.

Great fix for a problem mattress
Have had it about 2 months and it performs as expected. I've been worried about the 'heat factor' and so far it doesn't seem to retain heat and differently than a non-memory foam mattress. It will not overcome a lumpy mattress below it. It does make it more tolerable. (This become so clear to us: our mattress top layer was worn and lumpy - we finally ripped it off last week and the bed is so much more comfortable now. We will be replacing the mattress but can't right now.) I'm not sure if I think memory foam is the right way for us to go in the new mattress but this topper has been a great solution to get back to having a great bed for sleep. I also think your personal weight makes a difference in mattress comfort - my husband weighs about 185 pounds and I'm a bit heavy at 145 pounds as I'm so short.About its odor: I opened it early in the day and we had to sleep on it the first night (no practical place to lay it out to 'de-gas' other than our bed. I have chemical sensitivities and the first few nights I found I did switch my sleep position to avoid the 'stink'. After the first several days I only noticed it's smell when I moved my pillow. A week ago (when we finally got around to twisting it as recommending it) I never noticed the odor.About unpacking: I was able to get it up on the bed and open and place it. It didn't come close to ripping but it does seem soft and maybe if I grabbed it with long and hard fingernails it could have. It took just a few hours to lose any folds from shipping.

Finally...A Good Night's Sleep!
When our Stearns and Foster mattress started developing 'imprints,' it was no longer as comfortable as it had been. I looked for a solution for quite some time, and decided, on the basis of the good reviews, to try this topper. We have used it almost a week now, and are very impressed with it. It evened out the unevenness of the mattress, and makes us feel like we are sleeping on a cloud! We haven't had any issues with it being 'hot,' and it has not moved out of place at all. The only minor issue has been that it is rather fragile, if it has to be moved. It is rather heavy, and my husband and I had to move it down a hallway. On the way, it brushed against a doorknob and tore a small gash in one area. As we put it on the bed, we noticed another small one in another area. The company says it cannot be repaired so it won't spread. They suggested that it be rolled up lengthwise, prior to the recommended turning every few weeks. We will hope for the best with this minor issue, and in the meantime, will enjoy the feeling of having a luxury pillow top mattress. I would recommend this item to others, who have mattress and comfort issues!

Good middle-of-road, moderately priced choice.
We chose this product for the price, softness level, and the fact that the manufacturer seemed among the more reputable based on previous reviews. We had this shipped to an overseas location via a 3rd party shipper (which added significantly to our expense - hence the price concern). It was well-packaged and arrived safely. I did not notice any odor upon opening, even given the length of time in shipping mode. We had bought a firm mattress and this helped soften it for our backs and joints. It came with a mattress cover that was not quite deep enough for our mattress, so we used our own on top of it, followed by the sheet. In the month or so since we've had it, it has become more compacted, but so far we've been able to remedy this when we change the beds (we let it air/decompress). It does warm up the bed - something I don't mind, but if sleep hot or you live in a very warm climate, you might want to consider more recent innovations. I believe this particular product is an earlier (therefore cheaper) version of one that is advertised on the Natures Sleep website.
