ISN'T IT BROMANTIC?

liked it :)
Even though I DNFed Undercover Bromance, I had high hopes for Isn’t It Bromantic? because it has the marriage-of-convenience trope and I already liked Vlad from the previous books. The first thing that I noticed, and highly appreciated, was how this book admitted that Vlad was used in jokes too often when it is not actually funny. The guys in the group often used Vlad AKA “the Russian” in jokes by referring to his digestive system issues. Dealing with that is not funny. This book acknowledged it and even made the guys apologize for it which was nice. The book is about Vlad and Elena, childhood friends who secretly like each other, got married so that Elena can come to America. But they never admitted it and have been living apart as she studies in college away from him. After seeing his friends fall in love happily, Vlad tells Elena that he wants to make their marriage a real one and she responds with a divorce proposal. It breaks him, obviously. But when Vlad gets severely injured while playing, Elena steps up to take care of him as he recovers and they slowly grow closer and have to admit their feelings for each other. The romance was slow and really nice. The marriage of convenience trope is not strong here because while they’ve been married for years, they only grow closer as Elena is taking care of Vlad during recovery. I enjoyed how smitted they both were for each other and the way they finally got together at then.Coming to the characters, Vlad was seriously adorable. This book did him justice. It was so nice to read about this gruff Russian who cries easily, takes cares of his friends, would do anything for Elena, and is a romance book writer. This book also showedway more of the romance book club. The previous two books had them but here, we get to enjoy them actually hang out more and support each other. I loved how they stepped up to help Vlad with his recovery, love, and book. While this wasn’t a mind-blowing read, I quite enjoyed it and finished it in one sitting. I hope there is more of the series!

Loved this book!
Vladimir is a hockey player in Tennessee. Originally from Russia, he married Elena, whose father disappeared years ago. Their marriage was primarily to protect Elena, whom Vladimir has been friends with since they were children, but their relationship is hollow without feelings of true love. Vladimir joined the Bromance Book Club seeking a magical elixir of literature that would evoke romantic sparks of love. Yet so far, all that has met Vladimir in his search for love is a brick wall and plenty of evaporated dreams. Seeking an outlet for his lovelorn hope, he begins to write of what he yearns for, and wonders if he can manifest the happiness he deserves from the written pages. The Bromance Book Club is by his side, and Vladimir begins to see where his life can go, only for dark shadows of the past to loom over all that Vladimir and Elena need. Can Vladimir keep Elena safe and discover the love that he deserves, or will they be torn asunder in the end? This remains one of the best series that I keep kicking myself for not reading sooner. Each book adds something new and great, and this one is no exception! In previous stories, the book club will read a romance story, but here they actually help Vladimir work through his romantic ennui by helping him to write his own romance novel. The friendship that the club continues to build with its members is just awesome, and many recurring characters return, along with bringing in the new Loners, a couple of previously married women. A central theme of this series is that masculinity is defined by more than trite phrases like, "Man up!" or "Be a man!", and I appreciate that it's examined from many different angles as these stories continue being told. This story is my second favorite in the series so far, nearly tied with the first story. I couldn't get enough of it, which is part of why I think the ending felt a little abrupt, and I wanted more questions answered at the end to wrap things up nice and tidy. However, I imagine there will be another entry in this series, and maybe some questions will be answered then. I'm hoping the next story will be about Colton! Isn't It Bromantic? is another heartwarming, soul-searching, stereotype-breaking winner from Lyssa Kay Adams, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to readers who like to see men step outside their comfort zone for the sake of love, who enjoy stories where characters must confront their internal struggles in tandem with the plot, and who like to see groups that support each other when the going gets tough. Keep the bromance going!4.5 ⭐

After lying to his friends and existing in a loveless, arranged marriage Vlad decided to take the bull by the horns and admit to his wife that he wants more from his marriage but it might already be too late as Elena plans to move back to Russia, without Vlad.I don't know if it was the knowledge he's gotten over some of his tummy troubles or it was empathy for Colton as he suffered some of his own gastric issues but something immediately set Vlad apart from the comedic side character crown he'd earned himself in the first 3 books. It could also have had something to do with getting more than 3 words at a timeAs always with this series Lyssa manages to weave such a beautiful love story between the Bromance Bookclub as she does the main characters. The camaraderie and genuine friendship between these men was exquisite. From their genuine concern to the unwavering support, I could read about this group of men forever. You absolutely got your monies worth with this one. There's so much story. Even when I thought it was getting tied up and coming to an end then suddenly I still had 20% to go and there was still so much more story to come. This series as whole has been such an enjoyable, easy read. Anyone who's thinking of reading: DO IT!

The best. Funny, clever, tender. I loved the first book and this was just as good. Just loved all the characters. Comedy with depth and poignancy. I’m off to get another one!
