Dorfman Hat Co. Men's Soaker Hat with Mesh Sides (Large/X-Large, Tan)

I wanted a hat for the summer that would be cool in the Texas heat. This was just right. The screened part lets out the heat from my head while letting a breeze in. I knew it was a soaker hat and have yet to know how to make that work. That was not one of the reasons I bought it. The compliments on the hat are such that two of the guys I work with bought the same one for themselves. Mine came with fillers for the brim to adjust the size if needed. I have several hats and have learned to keep door insulation tape about 1/2 in around to fill in around the brim if needed. I wear a large.

fits comfortably, cool in hot weather, breathes and good shade and nice style. I haven’t tried the soaking part…

I bought this for my self but.. it was a bit to small for me. I suggest getting a size up. That said, my son loves it. It has survived him using it and still looks great. He has destroyed other hats but this one is still going. Based on that it is well made and keeps its shape.

I live in Colorado's Western Slope area where the high desert sun really beats down on you. I am in the outdoors almost daily, so a good hat is essential. I've gone through many different types of hats, and prefer the "outback" style. When I purchased this hat, I was a little unsure of its quality because of the price. Having owned it for more than a year, I am very happy with my purchase. I wear this hat daily, and it's been exposed to snow, rain, bird poop and extreme sun. When it gets dusty and dirty, I soak it in plain water in our utility sink and put it out in the sun to dry. I've had more expensive hats where the headband would become unglued and/or the stitching would come apart. So far, none of this has happened. It has held its shape, and still looks good. I've been on hikes with outdoor guides, who have complimented the hat and asked where I purchased it. The vented sides really make a difference compared to other cowboy-style hats I've worn. It also has a nice thick sweatband. It doesn't have a stampede strap, but one could be added if needed. Most hat shops have a universal type. My hat size is about 7 1/8. I ordered a Large/X-Large size with this hat and it fits perfect. It's a tiny bit snug, which is good for the windy conditions I sometimes run into. I don't leave reviews often, but I thought this item was worth a good review. For the price, I think it's a good value and would purchase it again if something happened to my present one.

This hat not only protects you from the sun, when wet, it keeps you cool and comfortable. I live in Las Vegas and in the summer months the temperature average over a 100 degrees. Dunk this hat in water and soak it good and it will keep you cool for 9 holes. Dunk it a second time and finish the round. Well worth the money.

Great hat, but the size ran small

The had comes packaged well, looks nice, and is well crafted. I have a couple of there hats, and have had one that i still wear that is 20 years old. Unfortunately this hat is clearly smaller than the size chart, it is not adjustable, and honestly it is unfortunate that it is not properly measured. I did read that size was a common complaint, but disregarded as I already had 2 of their hats which fit perfectly in this size. Wrong, this is smaller. I kept the hat because I like the style and quality and I am hopeful that it will have some give over time, it is currently a little on the snug site but is acceptable. I wouldn't have purchased it if I was in a store, but I didn't want to deal with the return process so that's why I kept it. If you are on the outer limit of the size chart, I would not purchase the hat.

The had is comfortable to wear, the fit is good and I can feel air flowing through when there is a small breeze while I'm golfing, which is certainly welcome in the Texas heat. The hat is holding up well thus far, not collapsing, but I worry that it will collapse down eventually due to a lack of vertical support. If that happens, I will probably be able to jury rig some solution to keep it up.

I bought my first Dorfman Pacific 'Soaker' Hat 8 years ago in Sedona, ready to tackle the heat of the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, and the other Canyon Lands. Served me well as a light weight stylish sun hat and occasional water cooler ever since, and it recovered well from being flat packed on subsequent trips to South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia. Have only just relegated it to gardening duty, because I can now swagger along the byways of the UK with my new DP Soaker protecting me from the sun.

I recieved this nicely constructed hat today and am pleased with the quality. I have noticed in the reviews that some poeple are confused with the size of hat they should be ordering or have ordered. My head measures to a 7 3/8 size and the large/x-large that I ordered did fit my head perfectly. Hopefully this will clarify any sizing confusion you may have. Love this hat, will be using it for golf this spring.

This is a very good hat - the size is a bit (marginal) larger than stated and the hat comes with some additional felt pads to put behind the sweatband in order to reduce the fit if needed. I got the Large-X-Large for my head which is between a 7 and 8. Its pretty much a perfect fit although I may end up using the spacers for a bit of extra snugness. It also came in a proper box and wasn't smooshed like another hat that I got off Temu which purported to similar in size and design (it wasn't even close). Am hoping that the seller gets in some other colour options in this size as I would like to get at least one of the other colour options suggested by the product images.
