A good book to get at least a superficial perspective on varied themes having lucid and easy to comprehend text.

If you are interested in ethics, say, killing of animals( although not limited to this issue alone) this is a good book.Supported by logical reasons and arguments. Not for those who want a quick read.

I haven't finished the book yet, but so far, I'm really enjoying it. The author asks the right questions, and lets the reader answer them himself. Note that this book is a compendium of articles that the author wrote on several websites and publications, with different scopes and goals. I will not give it five stars, for one reason: in the section on charity, the author gives a lot of publicity to his own website, sometimes making it feel like an ad campaign. Those were originally articles written at different times in different contexts, but being placed one next to the other in this book makes it a bit cringe-worthy. Perhaps there should be a article about self-promotion in an ethics book? Nevertheless, a good thought-inducing read.

A good book for Singer fans and haters; in a few pages the author explain in a concise way his ideas, and defend them with cunning intelligence, making a compelling case for them; makes you think. However, it doesn't get too deep in each of those ideas - for that you must read his other books of each subject - which I strongly suggest!

Quite a nice and unexpected surprise--to read (or better, to listen) to this book. I strongly recommend we all read this book, we really need to. It is very interesting the connection between culture, life experience, and environment in a way that creates our own personal ethical values. Most of us, if not the great majority, have no idea what an ethical value or trait is, nor are we ever interested in finding out. Well--never fear--Peter is here, all you have to do is read this book! A nice summary of so many interesting subjects and opinions. And then, you can see where you; yourself fall or are placed at....and then, the main question: Do you still want to be there? Ethical values at home, our neighborhood, at work, at school, at church, and the most important one--when no one is watching. Do we have any guidelines? If we do, where do they come from? How do we create them--how do we nurture them? Are we doing this willingly? Too many nice questions-I think, this book brings about. But, do not believe me---you yourself go ahead and get a hold of this amazing book and read it and find out! Let us know how you liked it, or not, and why.
