I've spent a lot of time learning about stocks, but bonds always seemed a little more confusing. This book was the perfect one to start with as it was in very simple language and explained all the topics really well. If you are a beginner and want to get more familiar with bonds, this book is definitely a great start!

I appreciated the simplicity of this book. It is a good primer on the topic of bonds for someone who knows little on the topic. It is written in plain English and in an uncomplicated manner. If you don’t understand bonds, start here. Five stars for accomplishing its goal.

Like many, I am more enchanted with the ups and downs of stock investing, versus the steady and subdued movements in bond investing. My hesitation with bonds is not just boredom either; it's also just a fundamental lack of knowledge about how they work, and what their role is in portfolio planning. I was looking for an easy introduction to bonds, and how they work. Mr. Hogue answered those hestitations of mine with clear, concise, and simple explanations that help investors construct a basic ballast for a portfolio that will provide steady returns, and stress-free management. This is a nice introduction to novice investors who need to learn the importance of protecting their investments over time with prudent choices like bonds. A quick and useful read here...maybe a little more info on how to invest in individual bonds vs. ETF's would be nice, but given the intent of the book, there is plenty here to get started in the markets of "smart money." This is a great book to read if you want a beginner's look into the world of bonds. It is well written and answers a lot of simple questions that are actually hard to find the answers to online due to the absolutely overwhelming amount of information out there.

It's a glorified booklet. The information is decent the high level as school. It is geared for an investor, when the audience should be 12th grade Senior. It's a short read at 60-70 pages. Some opinion in the book, but it's a good start.
