Very interesting book. I got it for my 6 years old son as he is showing interest in tress during our walks. It's easy to follow and rest I can explain it to him. He wants to take it with him during our walks so he can identify trees and its leaves.

Very much in the style we expect from national geographic kids books. Bright and colourful with lots of colour photos, no diagrams, and bite sized blocks of text. It is fun to read and ideal to flick through looking for facts. It is not an especially easy to use field guide, there is no identification key, trees are grouped in taxonomic class with common trees being drowned in a sea of rare specimens and hybrids. In terms of identification the pictures shown are not always sufficient. Leaves are usually described but not always shown, bark is rarely mentioned, overall pictures showing tree shape etc are also sadly lacking. This is a book of interesting fact about trees, but if you are looking for a good quality field id guide, then look elsewhere.
