I'm glad that I purchased this motor, great quality and was very happy overall with the operation for my right-hand (passenger side) running board. Very quiet motor. One benefit of this motor, the electrical cable is about twice the length of the OEM and the newer connector of the motor fits a little snug, but perfectly. The reason I mention this fit is because you will probably snap the connector retainer when disconnecting the motor from the truck. The part could have had more bubble wrap around it, it was a little loose in the box. Part was fine, no dents or other cosmetic issues. Brand new. No labeling on the motor to indicate right or left side. I did see some raised lettering under the paint that had "LH", which immediately I thought was left-hand. I checked my Amazon order to ensure I ordered the correct part for the right side, and I had. I checked on Amazon to zoom in on the picture for the left side motor and that part had a raised "RH" on that one in the picture on Amazon, so I figured the company sees the right-hand / left-hand differently than what we do in the United States. When I removed my factory right-side (passenger side) running board motor I noticed the Ford label said very prominently "R" on the label. I decided to take a chance and install it. It was made for the right side and worked fine when all was said and done. A note about the motor position when I received it. It was clocked to the running board in the "UP" position. I connected the motor to the truck and opened the door and the shaft made 1 full revolution. I closed the door and the shaft went back one full revolution to the original position. So, I had to tighten the bolt for the wedge while pushing up on the running board mechanism. When I finally put everything back together, with the running board done, I verified the running board wedge bolt was tight. On a safety note, make sure you pull the fuse in the engine compartment to render the motor inoperable. On my 2011 F150 Platinum it was fuse 11 (a peach one on the left side, second row). Just remember to remove the fuse even after testing during your install work. Tools needed: M5 hex to remove 4 running board bolts (you will want to remove the running board for room to work if you are flat on your back in the driveway. M10 1/4 drive socket for running board wedge removal M13 Deep well socket on a 4 inch extension for 3/8" drive rachet to hold motor mounting bolt backing nut M6 Hex bit 3/8" drive socket (or T-Handle Hex) to turn other side of mounting bolt. Blue thread locker WD-40 and isopropyl alcohol (I used rubbing alcohol from the bathroom medicine cabinet) for cleaning Clean all hardware before re-assembly. I will most likely order the left-hand motor when the time comes (knock on wood) from Amazon and hopefully from this same company. Best of luck and be safe.

Replaced running board motor passenger side of truck. Took about 2 hrs. Dealership wanted 2200.oo to replace entire assembly(parts only). Not interested in repairing. Works great at 1/10th the cost.

Bought used vehicle with inoperative running boards. Took them off and rebuilt them. Original motor was weak, but might have been OK? I opted to not mess around and just changed it out. Running boards working great now. Satisfied Customer.

Easy straight forward install. Taking the running board off, these worked immediately. None of what the other reviews said about working backwards. Worked correctly the first time and its super fast the speed it extends and retracts.
