Decent shirt, but runs small and the material is odd
This first bit is more of a seller/shipper issue, but for a simple order of a shirt to take, effectively, an entire month to get to me ?(order 6/13, expected delivery 7/8-7/22!?) Anyhow, the shirt itself... I have had numerous silk shirts in the past, and was accustomed to a certain feel. The words breezy, smooth (as in smooth as silk, yes?), and light could be applied to those past shirts. NOT the case here. Crinkly, rough, stiff, those words I could use for this shirt. Now, I admit the fabric itself does feel much heavier than my past shirts (I still have one that I've been carefully preserving), but the quality of the material seems entirely different. Upon feeling it, a friend immediately said "That's not silk." Take that as you will. Perhaps Thai Silk and silk are different cloth? The color. The color itself is great (burgundy). Given the odd feel of the material I gave it a hand wash with a mild detergent in cold water. The water turned a deep pink color, so I would expect the colors to run and fade a bit with this shirt, especially with any darker color. Not terribly surprising for a new silk shirt. Then there is the fit. The short version is that the shirt is a bit small. Though I usually wear an L, I went XL for this, thank goodness. The length of the shirt is such that the bottom button is barely into my waistline/beltline, and raising my arms comes near to untucking it (I go swing dancing, so raising my arms is a regular motion). I'm 5'9", btw, with an average length torso, though with wide shoulders. Often times I've needed an athletic fit shirt, and this shirt did feel much more form hugging (I prefer my silks baggy/flowing). My shoulders did feel a bit restricted, but for normal wear (non-dancing), that level of mobility probably wouldn't be a problem. Since this is a casual shirt I won't be buttoning the top button, but I did try it once and yes, the neck was VERY tight. So, to sum up, the shirt is fairly decent, but the material feel is not at all what I expected and it definitely runs on the small side.
