THESE EXTRACTION TOOLS ARE A GOOD BUY
THESE EXTRACTION TOOLS ARE A GOOD BUY: for the money; for their application; and for their wide range of types and sizes. They are firm enough to compress the locking tab of a pin to extract it from a connector. Their negative aspects are listed below. I am a retired senior electrical/electronics maintainer of a major aircraft manufacturing company, with 40+ years experience. I have worked on some of the most high quality and expensive connectors, pins, and sockets (real gold plating); with some of the most expensive and high quality pin/socket extraction tools. (1) There are no heavy duty pin/socket extraction tools. They are all made of somewhat thin delicate materials; considering the thin and/or small openings they have to enter. YOU MUST USE SKILL AND CARE WHEN USING THEM. Remember it has to fit into a very small area to compress the locking tab of a pin/socket. No extraction tool will last forever if it is being frequently used. That is why you should always have spares. To keep them lasting as long as they can; NEVER APPLY EXCESSIVE PRESSURE. Don’t be a Knuckle Dragging Neanderthal. (2) Spray Isopropyl Alcohol (greater than 90%) into the connector pin area with a spray bottle that can adjust the stream pattern (The larger the spray bottle, the harder it may be to get into tight areas.): a. Will help to wash out any grit and grime that may hinder the insertion of the tool, or compression of the pin’s locking tab. b. Will help to lubricate things for an easier extraction. I prefer using medical grade Isopropyl Alcohol (greater than 90%) because it has a substantially milder odor (especially for those tight/confined areas). c. Note: The Isopropyl Alcohol will evaporate and not leave any film. As a matter of fact, it’s a great gentle cleaner for all sorts of electrical/electronic components (power off, of course). (3) Sometimes, slightly tugging and pushing on the wire, while inserting the extraction tool, can help to properly seat the tool, and to compress and unlock the pin’s locking-tab. Keep in mind that the same type and size of extraction tool in this set might be used in various makes of vehicles (GM, Ford, Toyota, Hyundai, etc). It all depends on which manufacturer’s electrical connector a vehicle manufacturer used. NEGATIVE FACTORS: 1) The flat pin/socket extraction tools do not have smooth edges, which they should. They have rough edges and some even have sharp edges. This is only a problem if it is being slid along soft rubber, such as a moisture seal. In that case, you’ll have to sand the edges smooth, before using, to prevent damaging the seal. 2) Some extraction tools were hard to tell if they were a different type, or just a result of a manufacturing defect and poor quality control. 3) The set of pin/socket extraction tools that I received were a random mix of types and sizes that only made 2 complete sets. The extraction tools that come on the chains are also a random mix. I removed all the extraction tools from the chains, and together with the ones that came loose, I arranged them as per below and per the pics.. The extraction tools that were obvious to somewhat obvious, I arranged by type, and by size within the type. As you can see from my pics: • There appears to be 6 types of extraction tools with any combination of different designs: Round, Long Forks, Shorter Forks, Wide Forks, Narrow Forks, Wide Spacing (between forks), Narrow Spacing (between forks), 3 Forks, 2 Forks, and 1 Fork. • Also, there are different sizes within each type. • At best I got 2 complete sets of SIZES for each TYPE of extraction tool. Some types made 4 sets, while other types made a less number of sets. • The rest of the random sizes that did not make a complete type set, were placed in zip lock bags according to their SIZE and TYPE, and labeled each bag accordingly. • I placed each type set on one of the chains that were provided, and labeled the chain by TYPE; A through F. My labeling has nothing to do with the type of connector, or the Make of vehicle. It has more to do with matching those on the chain, to the spare extraction tools I placed in the zip lock bags. Perhaps in the future, as I use them and learn which connector manufacturer and Make of vehicle they work with, I will also include that info on the labels. • NOTE: The locking-link on the chains that came with the extraction tools does not hold the chain together very well. I envision them coming apart at the worst time, and the extraction tools falling-out all throughout the engine compartment. Therefore, I plan to purchase 1” to 2” Screw-Together Cable Key Rings to hold each type set. All-In-All, this is still a good buy, and does not appear to be any less quality than other automotive extraction tool sets. Organization minimizes the time looking for the right tool, for the right fit.

Connector pin tools.
Again, not sure what was wrong with the first message but this all this is is a tool set for removing pins on connectors, male or female. There’s a variety of sizes. There’s some duplicate tools in there. It’s just a handy set for overall removing pens for automotive or electronic stuff.

Flimsy quality
Very flimsy. Disappointed with how easy they bend while using.

Works as intended and makes re pining jobs easier
The quality seems a little flimsy but served its purpose just fine to swap out broken automotive connectors. Many rings have duplicate sizes when ordering the 172 pc set so even if one breaks there's most likely a backup. All in all its a good purchase to re pin plugs a lot faster and easier.

Solid little kit for pinning connectors
Good complete kit for pinning wires. Could have used a bigger bag to store them but it works. Good purchase.

Same tools in 2 sets totaling 81 Nos. received (1 missing and not knowing which one). The product is too costly and the metal parts are too thin for regular usage. The description in the advertisement says 82 different tools but actually only 41 x 2 similar are sent.
