Just Keep it on hand ...
You never know when ich will strike. Really. Yeah, it's mostly a stress-induced parasitic disease. Can you say you've reduced all the stressors in your fish tank? Really, when you haven't even reduced them all in your own life yet??? Just be safe, have this on hand. Now, funny thing: Back in the day, oh, nearly a half-century ago, back when I was a lowly marine bio student, we used to make this same basic formulation in the lab for use on research fish. When I branched out into the real world of wild-caught marine fish, I used to make my own, because nobody else did. Now, decades later, of course it's Hikari that has taken up the task to match the formulation correctly. Now, key points: Remember to do a 30-50% water change EACH DAY DURING TREATMENT; this is critical to your success, and to keep the dosage from becoming toxic. DO remember to use a dechlorinator. I prefer to use Amquel Plus to make sure ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates are all kept down in addition to detoxifying the chlorine and chloramines. Treat for the correct number of gallons of water in your tank, not the size of the tank. In other words, consider all the rocks and sand and decorations you have in there. For instance, I have a 240 gallon tank; once I back out a massive background, big rocks, the internal wet/dry filtration, etc, the actual gallonage is closer to 160 gallons, so that's what I treat for. BIG difference, eh? REMEMBER to treat for FOUR days after the last visible symptoms. You'll be tempted not to, but keep in mind those larval suckers encyst and are still in there, so keep at it. Four days worth. ONE last 30-50% water change after treatment has completed. You can wait a day or two if you want, that's okay, but don't wait too long. Good idea to monitor ammonia levels just in case.

Works great - safe for shrimp and snails!
Using IchX with bumping up my community tanks temp to 86 degrees did the trick! Just follow the instructions and do the water changes. Didn’t kill any of my snails or shrimp either. So glad it worked!

A++++++ Miracle Product
Normally not one to write reviews but this was truly worth it. I own a 250 gallon tank. Was in the first three months of acclimating the tank which can be hard on new fish. A lot of fish had been added from electric blue acara, rams, tetras, geos, corrys... likely a new batch of fish that was brought in that brought in ich and it hit fast within 48 hours of dang near the entire tank. Extremely scary to have it hit so fast, especially with the size of the tank. A lot of smaller schooling fish like tetras, about half died. Within the first two treatment days which is to be expected with how severe it got. Most of my larger fish though ALL made it through. After about three days of treatment, ALLL spots were gone. As long as you stay to the instructions, this product has been a miracle!! Without it, i have zero doubt my entire tank would have died off! I would follow with treatment to at least 14 days because a lot of ich stays in your substrate. But as long as your doing your water changes and dosing every day. This product kept over $1000+ worth of fish from dying! Miracle product.

Powerful stuff
Be careful with dosing. Turns water dark blue immediately, I have a 2500 gallon pond and used 1/4 cup, worked great! Ich was cured in a week with 2 doses and pond salt. Make sure you have proper aeration, the koi will be fine but the goldfish seem to get a little irritated, but that goes away in a few hours. Good product.

Wrong and dangerous dose for a pond versus an aquarium
This concentration is for aquariums only! Nowhere is that made clear. The ratio for ponds is 5ml per 50 gallons whereas the ratio for aquariums is 5ml per 10 gallons. That is a huge difference! And you could potentially overdose and kill your fish trying to use the 10 gallon dose one. They are of different concentrations as well so you can't just change the dose to accommodate a pond. So obviously I can't use this very expensive gallon of product
