These are very easy to use hand controls that come inside a zipped storage bag.I use fixed hand controls already and when I got my very first set a few years ago I was just handed the keys. No instruction was needed and when I had a hire car they fitted similar controls to this and I got no instruction at all.That’s because they’re much easier to use than pedals with feet.They fit onto the accelerator and brake which must be on an automatic transmission vehicle.You will possibly have to inform your insurer and it’s ultimately up to them but I would think there’s no problem with hand controls and insurance.

The hand position isn't as ergonomic as it could be, and it is definitely not as intuitive as proper installed controls (if you normally drive hand contol cars, and are using this as a quick stop gap or for a hire car, you will need to get the feel for them before heading out!)

I was told by my insurance company that my insurance will not cover in an accident if driving with these controls due to not having had a driving assessment report to confirm it is safe for me to drive with hand controls

They come well-packed and from the moment you open the package you can see how well made they are, they have easy-to-grip handles and they seem easy to fit as well.Obviously, check with your insurer if they are happy for you to fit them.
