Beware of substitution with interchangeable products from older Greenlee product lines
Greenlee has made a change with its dragouts. The punches and dies all have new catalog numbers; with the dies being made longer or taller; although the punches are essentially the same. This 3/4 Slugbuster punch product listing has a catalog number that belongs to the new line of dragouts. So I was taken aback when the item I ordered arrived and was clearly marked "721-3/4" instead of the "K2P-3/4" I specifically ordered. And it was shipped in a Ziploc baggy with "K2P-3/4" etched on the side with a Sharpie. To be clear, "721-3/4" is the old model of the 3/4 Slugbuster punch; and "K2P-3/4 is the new model of the 3/4 Slugbuster punch. The seller may argue that the old punch and the new punch are interchangeable; and they are. So much so, that I am keeping the older model punch and matching it with an older model die because I don't want the hassle of returning it. But in all fairness, there was no disclosure on the product page that older substitutions would occur. I am displeased. I was creating an ensemble based on a new product line and that's been eliminated. Lastly, everyone knows that new product lines always cost more than the old product line. I have already verified that if I had initially shopped for a 721-3/4, which is what I received, I would have paid less than this seller's price for a K2P-3/4. Fraudulent or not, this seller has found a way to move old inventory off the shelves at prices reflecting the new products; all made possible by uninformed substitution.
