Maybe it's just because I'm a metalsmith and take some innate delight in torches...or maybe it's because this is my first metals torch in five years, and I missed it- I'm sure that's all part of it...but I LOVE this torch. LOVE IT. I'm a jewelry metalsmith (more technically, a silversmith, although I've worked with a broad array of metals), and I got a lot of traction out of my Smith Little Torch, for about a decade. It replaced my starter- a Worthington Pro propane-only torch, which, despite the fact that it had multiple nozzles (and was surprisingly able to melt enough sterling silver to cast with!), as well as an add-on hose- and that thing really wore on me. The handle was bulky and heavy, the tips were all varying degrees of too big, it had a click-starter and would only stay on if I switched off the safety, the valve was made of (and really felt like) cheap plastic... So, after trading up to a Smith Little Torch, and spending years working with that, my standards have adjusted accordingly, and I am now *picky*. I took a break from the bench during Covid, and for some time after. I only got back into it a few months ago. I couldn't stay away, and found that returning to it just felt *right*. I needed a torch that didn't involve buying the whole accoutrement, like the hose, handle, flashback arrestors, regulators, torch tips, and then the damn cylinders...that would have cost several hundred dollars just to assemble. It would have been more than I could afford right now. I needed something cheap that had all those things- either including the flashback arrestors, or with the option to add them. I don't intend to blow myself up. I'm so glad I found this, and I was really excited to get it! I love it! I'm able to do all the normal bench work I need (soldering, brazing, annealing), except I haven't yet tried out casting with it. I don't have very high hopes for that endeavor, though, since the tip is pretty tiny. Think: maybe the size 6 or so on the Smith Little. Still, it's hot enough for me to work with Hard solder, not to mention anneal silver and copper! I also find the handle ergonomic, and very comfortable to hold for extended periods, and I love that there are valves on both the handle and the regulator- I specifically needed one with the handle valves. Having regulators with gauges is also always helpful for torch maintenance. Side note: I have fibromyalgia, CFS/ME, ankylosing spondylitis, etc, which means that I have lots of chronic pain, most especially when gripping something. But I find this very comfortable to use. However, this does get a little brighter (obvi, hotter) than I remember my Smith being, so I wear some of those green goggles when I use it. I recommend them- I just wear the #3 lenses. Couldn't hurt, right? I haven't noticed any leakage, but I religiously use PTFE thread tape on all my threads, and I check for leaks with soapy water (but, my dog has yet to chew into the hoses (lol, yikessss...))! Still, I am going to buy a backup before the tariffs hit. I consider this to be surprisingly sturdy and good quality for how much it costs- at this time, it's just over $80. It certainly meets my minimum standards, and bear in mind that I have been spoiled by the jeweler's "gold standard" in quality. I use it with propane/oxy (and may reluctantly try out the MAPP gas sometime when my family needs the propane cylinders for heaters or a stove, once America crashes and burns and we're living in an apocalyptic world of chaos and anarchy), and the only real downside to that is how quickly I "burn through" the disposable oxygen cylinders. In fact, I've bought a half dozen so I don't run out for a while. I'm also going to stock up on those- thanks so much to our greatest leader for making us desperate with those tariffs!

When you actually get oxygen it works great! I use it for brazing and soldering. Not welding.

A nice little torch comes in handy for small jobs or hobbies, I like it because I don't have to have big investments in equipment or pay for someone to do something I can do myself getting old so the need for a welder or torches is in the past.

I was installing an A/C unit in my home. I needed a torch with high enough heat to braze the copper tubing with a silver brazing rod. I didn’t want to spend several hundred bucks on a torch set that might only get used once in a blue moon. I saw this set on Amazon & decided to give it a try. I purchased the propane and oxygen bottles at my local hardware store for. $20. It was easy to hook up and it had the perfect tip for what I needed. I got the lines brazed quickly and the A/C works great. There are no regulators to adjust. Just hook the hoses to the bottles and the rest is just like using a Victor or similar brand torch. Was easy to get the perfect flame. The only con would be that the hoses are short, but the rig weighs next to nothing. I’m pleased with it. Didn’t cost much and easy to tote around

Perfect for small HVAC work. If you know how to use a torch, it’s very easy to use. Needs a holster on the carry frame for the torch head for stowage.

The propane valve leaked after a few minutes of use. I quickly opened the windows and used a fan to evacuate the room. The other issue is the oxygen supply. At $20 per bottle, which lasts only 30 min, this is a very inefficient way to braze.
