I bought it, I still refer to it, and it's been updated. It's not boring, except if you do not fly.
I bought it for learning how to pass the exam for part 103, or (?) whatever it is/was for drone flying. But I was also a private pilot once, and an aspiring aviator all my life - with interest in everything relevant to flying. I even went to Aviation training/classes at first Cypress College (I hope they are open still) and later in the military (private pilot, but also observation assistance on helicopters for missions). Anyway, I love flying. This book is about 3 feet from me now. I do need to update it though. You won't go wrong buying it if you are an aviation-phobe.

Informative book, okay shipping.
This is a great book and is well formatted. This is a must have for anyone who wants to learn more about the fundamentals of flight and how aircraft work. Shipping was a bit damaged though, however that was expected and it wasn't too bad. 4 out of 5 stars and would recommend to others!

A well-bound book with drawings in color and good quality printing
I haven't had a chance to do more than browse it but the textbook is nicely printed and contains color drawings. The pages seem tightly bound, and with good marginsI am very pleased with this purchase. I would gladly buy from this merchant again.I received the 2016 version which is the latest as I write this, on the FAA website

Better Than You Expect, Exactly What You Need
The HAK is the culmination of all the knowledge you will need to succeed as a private pilot. While touching on subjects instrumental (ha, see what I did there?) to instrument flight, the HAK primarily focuses on getting you off the ground and into the air safely and efficiently. A wide range of topics are covered, including the regulatory side of things, with plenty of external references for those in a Part 141/61 flight school who require them. You will be pleasantly surprised to find high-resolution images, diagrams, and illustrations throughout, making this handbook much less dreary than the plain text ones often given to flight students for homework.
