My Favorite Grill Accessory! Awesome Grilled Chicken
I've used this gadget twice so far and made fantasticly tender chicken!! I'm a grilled chicken novice and TWICE the bird has come out of the Traeger looking like a pro grilled it! I brine a whole chicken 5-6lb overnight in the fridge. At 1100 next day, remove bird from brine and bring to room temp before setting the grill temp to 225° Pour applejuice & water with some sliced lemons in the center cup, rub the chicken inside & out with olive oil, sprinkle my favorite Kosmos Dirty Bird chicken seasoning on the inside and place the bird firmly onto the cup. Liberally sprinkle the outside of the bird with the seasoning. Set the temperature probe in breast alarm to 165° and place the tray on the grill. Walk away. I leave it ALONE. It takes several hours to get up to temp and let it rest 20-30min before carving but boy it's incredibly juicy!! The tray allows you to catch all the drippings for gravy or au jus and prevents all that yummy goodness from mucking up your grill. The parts & tray have cleaned beautifully, and very easily for me and I am the home's dishwasher. Product says it is dishwasher safe! P.S. It doesn't matter what you put in the cup (water, apple juice, or beer) the chicken will turn out great!

Very very nice!
One of the things I love about this setup is that I pour the beer into a separate container. I dont have to worry about how the heat is affecting the chemicals or paints on the can and what that's doing to my food. I also like that it locks in place, so there's less struggle to take the chicken off. I let the beer I've poured come up to room temperature, that way it boils faster in the grill. This setup is easy to use, easy to clean, traps the drippings very nicely, and produces nice results. To be honest, I always brine my chickens overnight anyway, but using this produced a bird that my wife dubbed "a keeper". I haven't used the tines to hold veggies yet but that's coming. Very highly recommend.

Good, but not necessarily perfect
This is sturdy, and generally cleaned up without too much fuss in the dishwasher. The biggest problem I've seen is that with the larger center container for your beer/liquid, the opening is right at the top of where the chicken is, so any steam that's coming out is going out the chicken's neck into the grill or oven, and not really staying inside the chicken. The taller can does keep the chicken sturdy, but as I noted, I'm not sure how much of the steam stays inside the bird. It's generally the same height as a beer can, so it can't be that different. All that said, I cooked a chicken right after receiving it, and it got rave reviews from my kids. I may experiment with something shorter in the center that will keep more of the liquid/steam inside the chicken.

Great product!
This is the best beer can chicken roaster you can buy! So much safer and healtier than a used beer/soda can that has been coated with formaldehyde. The stainless steel is a so easy to clean, comes out of the dishwasher looking like new. There is no warping of the pan on the grill and it is so much easier to get the chicken from the grill to the kitchen. It can also be used in the oven and catches all of the juices. If you are a gravy lover the drippings are contained and ready to be made into gravy. Another plus is that on the grill the juices/fat drippings are contained and not all over the grill interior. My husband (grill master) was thrilled with this. We have used many other apparatuses made for beer can chicken and this is by far the best! The quality makes it so worth the cost,

Works great.
I used this tool to smoke my first whole chicken. I was very impressed at how moist the chicken was after cooking, especially the white meat. It was melt in your mouth the best chicken breasts I have ever had.

Sharp Lid Edge, weak welds on Forks
It is large enough for a chicken in our Traegar. My only problems were with the screw lid edges being pretty sharp from probably being pressed from sheet metal. The other issue was the vegetable forks were broken off from poor welding either by production workers or auto weld machine. The chicken came out fine, but were not able to use the vege forks. :>(

Great product and works better than using the actual can!
Great stability and no worries of getting paint from the can on the chicken. Chicken takes longer to cook due to the pan covering some direct heat, but that was ok, more basting time. :)

Excellent Product. Misguided Concept.
About halfway through my first cook with this product, I realized that stuffing a beer can into a chicken is a ridiculous concept. Even if the beer is warm, you are stuffing it into a cold chicken, and trying to get the chicken to an internal temperature of 165 - which means that the beer never gets to a temperature where it would boil, and it's blocking airflow through the internal cavity of the chicken and lining the internal cavity with metal that is cooler than the temperature of the grill/smoker. This prevents the chicken from cooking from the inside out, which means it will take longer to cook. This tends to over cook the outside of the chicken - think of the chicken and beer as one solid mass that you are trying to heat from the outside in. If you are trying to smoke a chicken, as I was, just pour beer into the water bath if you are trying to add flavor and keep the chicken moist (I have not done this yet, but will next time). If you want to just use the rack without the container, however, it's not a bad idea to cook the chicken in an upright position, and the rack will hold the cavity open to allow heat to cook from the inside. For me, after over two hours at 350 degrees, the chicken still wasn't fully cooked, and after removing the chicken, the liquid level in the can was almost exactly the same as when I started - so it didn't evaporate or add flavor. If you do want to use it as a container for beer, it's definitely better to put your beer in stainless instead of putting an actual beer can up against the meat, as there could be contamination from plastics, paint, etc., from the beer cans label. It's a good product developed for a very misguided, although very popular, concept.

This is a great tool as it holds all the grease and drippings that can be used to make a nice turkey or chicken gravy. Even though it's called a beer can, you can experiment with whatever beverage you want. I am looking forward to making a Guinness turkey for Christmas in my smoker. The prong on mine was twisted and broke (which the company promptly took care of) so if yours is twisted be very careful with it or it breaks off and you won't be able to cook a baked potato or corn as efficiently. All in all though, wonderful product, easy to clean, and sturdily built.

I have been using a Weber trivet to cook 'beer can' chicken for a few years. It works really well although the no stick surface of the Weber unit has been gradually coming off, mostly due to contact with tools used to remove the chicken before carving. The Cave Tools stainless steel unit seemed like a great alternative / replacement and the option to place it in the dishwasher was a major attraction. Unfortunately the unit is made of very thin metal and the stainless finish doesn't look like it will take a lot of use. The cooking result was basically the same as the Weber trivet and there is more space for cooking vegetables in the square base Time will tell, but its a shame they didn't use a heavier gauge metal.
