Compact, functional, well made and feels robust
As a frequent traveler to Japan, I wanted to purchase a small meter/dosimeter to give me indicative radiation readings when I find myself near known radioactive hot spots. After doing a fair bit of research, the Terra P+ kept coming up in reviews so I went with it.After receiving it, I am not disappointed. The overall build quality is very good with a nice LCD display, labels and buttons. In terms of the radiation readings, it appears to be accurate but I noticed some quirky behavior- When I first turn on the unit, the gamma radiation reading can sometimes suddenly spike before settling down fairly quickly. I am not sure if this is a characteristic of the unit but it can be unsettling as it triggers the alarm which always defaults the threshold to 0.3 uSv/h when turned on.- If I keep the unit on all the time but have it in the "clock" mode showing the time, it has on two occasions this month switched itself into dose rate mode overnight. I am also not sure if this is normal.Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and will keep it with me when I am next in Japan. Also, some reviewers have said the case is too small. I found that if you give the new case a gentle stretch in all directions, it will fit the unit perfectly and will be easy to put on and take off

Faster than my old dosimiteter - battery life and then some
This actually works as both a dosimiteter and Geiger counter. Actively tracks radiation and alarms when the expected set background radiation limit is reached. My old dosimiteter would just beep every second after a 30 second sample.STILL on the first set of batteries and hasn't dropped a bar on the battery indicator despite being powered on since I bought it. Rock solid little unit. Reacts quickly to test sources. And made in Ukraine.Detects gamma radiation.UPDATE: Though bought back in February in 2023 and now being September of the same year... This little wonder has YET to have a battery change. Battery indicator still shows a full charge despite being on 24/7 since purchase.Update #2:FINALLY managed to drop a battery bar. Still has been on 24/7 since purchasing the dosimiter. It's 12/6/2023. Can't fault this little unit for it's battery life.Pros: Quickly detects gamma radiation. On par with a Ludlum Survey Meter.Cons: Only flaw is no backlight for the display.Other than that one flaw... An impressive bit of kit. Totally recommend. Often cheaper than a working Ludlum Geiger Counter with a wand on eBay.

Finally arrived...
Finally arrived after 4 months, numerous emails and a flurry of late-night phone calls. It seemed everyone was buying these after the Fukushima NPP disaster, and selling them at inflated prices. It seems to do the job, it detected radiation from an old luminous watch, but I don't have any radioactive beef to check it on yet, or a standardised isotope. I'm a former nuclear medicine pharmacist, working daily with radiopharmaceuticals, and quite familiar with radiation and dose measurements, but found the manual a little confusing, as are the combinations of buttons to press to obtain different functions. The LED display is so-so, one of the number bars disappears intermittently, probably a manufacturing defect! In the absence of anything else being easily available, and the inflated prices now being charged in Japan for dosimeters, I'll keep it, and hope it works.

Compact, reliable, comprehensive easily to use , a must have especially for people living nearby...
Easy to use, compact, reliable, very useful and...preventive, especially for those unhappily living near a plenty of misinformation, dubious behaviour mad drunk etc people along all their history in the region... From Cernobyl explosions to nuclear submarines lost or recent trick rocket failure, that area may anytime stupidly polute by negligence again, so keeping this device permanently with you, could be a must have here to know in proper time, much before official news agencies and TVs will be allowed to arise the alert!

But for the price I'm pleased. It is simple to understand and use
Construction is a little flimsy, so it would not work well for constant use. But for the price I'm pleased. It is simple to understand and use. This is probably the only "Made in Ukraine" item I own.

Works as described great unit.
Works great, I have no issues with the unit. I tested it out on a sample, and the unit is accurate and works as described. I'm very pleased with the terra p.

NOT a solid build for the money you pay! Works okay
Everything arrived on time as promised. It works. but the build quality is NOT worth the money you pay. First thing I noticed was that the yellow casing is fragile. the two sides of casing squeaks like a kids toy when held in your hands and pressing the buttons. For the price I would expect a solid build with good plastic. I think it is a manufacturer issue and the seller has nothing to do with it.Pros: when compared to the Russian one (which I sent back because bcoz of poor battery life and cra**y menu), this has good battery life. and has extra alarm and time functions and compact.Cons: Squeaky and fragile casing, fragile lcd lens (it does the thing like the 80's calculator when pressed slightly), the tube's cover has to be removed to detect certain types of radiation (why can't they groove the cover like the Russian one?). no backlight.
