Q: I bought the table and it seems very sturdy, but I'm having trouble locking the legs in place. Is there a trick to that?

Same issue. I now turn table upside down and use a rubber mallet to pull locking mechanisms into place for set up. To close, I turn table upside down again and use the mallet to gently tap the mechanisms inward until they can be pushed in manually. I had the mallet already, and extra effort is worth keeping the table for its strength and stability. Should design be improved? Yes.

Q: How do you unlock the table legs?

Flip the table so the top is on the floor. Each leg has two angle braces. One is solid, one is split. Strike the split brace in the middle with your palm or something hard as the brace is very tight. Do this on all legs and they will fold in and lock in the built in clamps. Very tight so be careful. Hópe this helps.👍😎

yes the legs are steel. I don't know what kind of plastic is on the top, but it is hard and durable. Very happy with this table

Approx. OD of the leg tube is 1" - I could not check the ID (inside diameter) as the legs have black plastic caps attached, (must be glued as the ones on my table do not want to come off). I will say the tubing appears to be thin walled (if that helps) its probably just under 1" diameter.
