Hourglass Clock Timers—25 and 5 Minute—Black and Gold Sand—Productivity, Time Management, and Meditation Set—Pomodoro Technique—Office Zen

I learned about the "Pomodoro Technique" from a co-worker and it's the most effective time management approach I've ever tried. 25 minutes of focused concentrated work with no interruptions allowed (including checking email, texts, etc...) followed by a 5 minute break. It's hard to concentrate when your 25 minute timer is on your phone and you are getting texts, social media notifications, etc... So I searched for a "25-minute hour-glass" and found this. I have since ordered 5 more as gifts and that number will likely increase. So far I've ordered 3 for co-workers who kept asking to borrow my hour glasses. My new morning ritual was to come in to the office and go hunt for the desk the were on that morning. I got another 2 for family members who are also reporting crazy productivity increases and having fun while they do it. I'm placing an order for 2 more for myself to have at office and both levels of the house. I have been carrying my set back and forth from office to home and then when I'm at home, I'm carrying them upstairs and downstairs. I love the black and gold sand. Hope to see more color varieties in the near future as well. These are elegant and art in themselves. When I realized I'd be ordering so many I looked for other designs and colors elsewhere, these were hands-down the best design and the ONLY 25 minute / 5 minute solution I could find. Wonderful product, highly recommended.

These timers are a useful and aesthetically pleasing accessory for any focus driven environment. The sand flows consistently without any blocks/clumps. The only thing I would warn is that the timers are not exactly 25 minutes and 5 minutes. Other reviewers have posted their times and are different from mine, so I would assume each purchased set varies from one to another. My black timer was timed at 27min 25sec and my gold timer was timed at 5min 11sec. I use them for the Pomodoro technique, and although the initial recommended time for the technique is 25 minutes, it isn't any less effective with a little longer or shorter duration, so whatever you time your timers at, they will still be useful for the technique.

The large 25 minute hourglass does not work. The sand gets stuck and does not pass through. I thought if I helped it through once or twice with lots of tapping, it would get going and find a path, but no. The sand keeps stopping. I would have returned it but I threw away the packaging, never imagining that an hourglass would not work! So much for not wasting time.

I've actually ordered this twice. The first time, it came without the 5-minute timer. I contacted the seller, who was very responsive and helpful. I was given a coupon to order the set again.Turns out that if I had received the small timer to begin with, I still would have needed to reorder. The large timer takes about an hour and a half to drain of its sand.My second set came yesterday. The large timer is accurate (drains in approximately 25 minutes). The small timer, however, was broken upon arrival. It's sad. I imagine the gold sand would be lovely as it fell.

This was awesome for a while, but broke after about 6 months of regular use. I didn't drop it or anything. The bottom just cracked open as I was carefully setting it down to start a new pomodoro.

Really like these hour glasses. They were very well packed and arrived in perfect condition. I have tested the small 5 minute one and it is accurate; haven't tested the large one yet. They do have the Atentif logo permanently painted onto one end, as shown in the photo --- I was hoping that would be a clear label that could be peeled off, but it's not. However, it's not bad and actually it comes in useful to be able to distinguish one end from the other as sometimes I lay the glass on it's side when I want to pause the time and it helps me remember which end should go up. Of course i haven't deliberately dropped it in order to see how durable it is, but the glass appears to be quite solid and well made, not thin or too fragile. It can be sort of tranquilizing to watch the sand fall, next time I have insomnia i will try just watching it to see if it may help me get to sleep. Glad i got these

I really like this so far. I started this method after I heard about it in an online course. Bc it’s not as loud as my phone vibrating sometimes I lose track of when it runs out but that’s ok. I have a shared office and wanted to find a method that wasn’t jarring for me(like a phone vibrating) and distracting (since I’d check my phone sometimes to see how much time was left and bam! I’m on instagram suddenly). The set is just really nice and came packaged well. The black sand hourglass is taller than I expected but it still definitely works. Timing is accurate on these. I haven’t tried it down to the second but I’ve started it on the top of the hour and it runs out close to 25minutes later. Same with the 5minute set. I say go with this if you like for your days to be broken down evenly into 30 (25+5) minute increments instead of doing 35 like some other sets.

I've been using these a lot and they are very useful for keeping track of where you are in a pomodoro. I haven't timed them to the second like others have but they definitely match to 25 and 5 minutes from when I've glanced at the computer time while using them. A plus is that they're not incredibly fragile; one survived a short drop (I'm a little clumsy) with no scratches. Only ding is that the gold tends to have a few grains stick to the sides in the top half. Doesn't throw off the timekeeping badly, just looks odd.
