Basic but adequate
After owning many chess sets over the years, this is as bare bones as it gets. I regularly provide these boards to my students and players who do not have a board or pieces at home. I will suggest getting a paint marker and writing the rank and file identifiers, but if you're just looking for a simple board to play chess, then this will be more than adequate. The plastic pieces are definitely lower quality, but are easily identifiable, and are perfect for a casual family game, or for someone just starting.

Was impressed for a cheaper set.
Younger son wants to play chess and wanted a cheap set to see how long he would stick to it. The pieces, while plastic, are actually weighted some which is nice. I remember very cheap sets growing up and this is great for what I paid.

Not Black and White Pieces !
Board came with the dark and light wooden style pieces. I know it's probably not a big deal, accept for the fact the only purpose for buying this set was for black and white pieces.
