This seasoning is not overwhelmingly hot but packs a lot of flavor. Most recipes I've seen, though call for more than is in one packet - a lot more. So there's the packaging waste and cost that seems like a lot. But I bought it this way as a way to try it out without buying a large jar. I love the flavor!
