The microphone stopped working after using it 2 times. I've tried connecting it to 3 different computers and 2 other recorders but it's dead. I don't recommend this article to anyone. It's really BAD QUALITY!!! Update: I reached out to the vendor to get my warranty and they shipped a brand new microphone within 2 days. It works like a charm. I've tested it on all my previous devices and there are no issues at all. The audio quality is really amazing.

I got this lavalier mic after my prior one started getting pops and crackles. Had this since late 2019 and it has far outlasted my prior brand. I have been using this with my old smart phone to capture audio for my YouTube videos. Does a great job for a budget mic. So if you can't bite the bullet and buy the more expensive audio options that run $100+, this is a great alternative to improve sound quality over built in mic setups on most camera's. Keep in mind this will not be super high quality, but the wind socks this comes with do a much better job than I would have expected out of a $30 setup. After several events and many trips packing and unpacking the sound quality still hasn't broken down or degraded. I have definitely been impressed by the quality of sound you get for a ~$30 product. The cord length is good, it comes with an extension cord, adapters and it also comes with 2 styles of windsock(the usual foamy style and a 'deadcat' style sock). The wind socks do a pretty good job of getting rid of wind noise and other small background noises, but it's not perfect. I use a standard plug on my phone, so haven't needed the adapters. I would expect the adapters work, but I'll let someone who has used them comment on that part. I can definitely say this was well worth the price and if I'm not ready to upgrade to a zoom setup by the time this dies, I would buy another.

First of all, this is a very nice lavalier microphone and it comes with a useful array of adapters and an extension cable. The "dead cat" furry windscreen is almost worth the price alone, it uses a particularly fine fake fur that is really effective at reducing wind noise. The microphone itself sounds quite good, it's full range and captures rich sounding audio. Now about that claim that it captures stereo audio; IT DOES NOT. It has a single omnidirectional (non-directional) microphone capsule and it captures MONAURAL audio, there simply cannot be any stereo separation using one microphone capsule. Stereo audio requires either two microphones or a single microphone with two mic capsules and wired in stereo, this microphone is neither. The description even says STEREO AUDIO in capital letters, this is simply untrue and claiming its stereo is really quite deceptive. I knew it wasn't going to be stereo before I ordered it but I bought it anyway, it's well worth $25 but it is not a stereo microphone.

The sound quality is great, one of the best I've tried I use this hooked up to my motorcycle for moto vlogging and calls and it is great at focusing on voices and nonnatural sounds when you need, I can easily edit the audio to focus on exhaust sound as well while keeping the wind noise out. Especially for this price point, you can't beat it. I did find the cord a little long so I wish it was shorter and just had an extension but you can't complain about this price. It comes with a lot of accessories and nice to-haves which make it a great option.

I needed an inexpensive lavalier mic for a small scale interview project. I researched several mics and decided to try out this one because sources said the customer service was excellent. This kit comes with everything you'd need to get started. It is compatible with DLSRs (which is what I used) and smartphones. Although do note if you have a newer galaxy with a "USB-C" this only comes with a micro USB adapter. I'm sure a converter can be found inexpensively. Before I even received the mic I got an email from Purple Panda with a quick start guide and reassurance that they were there if any assistance was needed. The mic was EASY to set up and came packaged well. It took me less than 2 mins from first opening the package to completing a successful audio test. I was very impressed with the quality of the mic. The lav clip is VERY sturdy. This worked great for my project. I was conducting miniature interviews in a crowded space with a LOT of background noise and the interviewee's comments came out clear and easy to understand. I'd highly recommend this mic to anyone starting out or just adding to their collections. For $30 you can't beat it in my opinion.

This is way better than I was expecting! You can feel the quality in every piece. The mic & clip, although small, are solid & tough, not that cheap plasticy feeling like the ones you break just by trying to put them on.. The wire is super thin & becomes invisible quickly with just a little distance, & it's nice quality on the ends. The plugs look like they might be gold electro-coated for better contact & no corrosion, giving the audio signal a perfect path to my devices! And I can tell because the sound quality is great! Way better than expected. But WAIT..... It doesn't stop there !! Besides the great little Purple Panda Velor Satchel/ Cool bag to store or carry it in, in the box there was a note welcoming the buyer, & offering a free gift! All I had to do was go to their page, & claim it! This is a great little company on their way up. I'm glad I happened upon their product, & am now a loyal customer. I'd recommend buying anything from Purple Panda because other than the great deal, you'll get the treatment & service that only a smaller company can offer as you're not lost in a crowded sea of others.. I started a DIY/Product Review YouTube channel (diymark) and I quickly learned that audio is very important. The purple panda mic got good reviews and it is reasonably priced. But I found it comes with some of it's own challenges. First my phone (Moto 5G) did not recognize it and continued to use the internal mic. After downloading several alternative cameras I was able to find two that worked with the mic (Magix camera FX- Free & Cinema FV-5- $2.50). I also found the Panda mic gain is a bit low for my use. I record most of my videos in a large garage or outdoors and they come out quiet. I often move around illustrating DIY activities and the audio will fluctuate depending on my body position and environmental sounds. In general I have to boost the gain in post production. Still it is a vast improvement over the echo audio that the internal mic brought. If your videos are vlog style where you are sitting 5 feet away facing the camera in a quiet room this mic will work well. But I am still searching for a better solution. Overall I would rate this mic a solid "C+". About my rating: 5 stars – Exceeds all expectations. Better than the competition in all aspects, design, cost, operation, and support (A+). 4 stars – Nicely done. Better than the competition and solves the problem. (B) 3 stars – Works as expected. Has some shortcomings but gets the job done. Might be short in design, cost, longevity, or support. (C). 2 stars – Falls short of expectations and needs improvement. Pass and look elsewhere. (D) 1 star – Fails miserably. Does not get the job done, might even make things worse. Someone at the company should be fired. (F)

1. Very easy to use - just plugged it in and set my Cinema FV5 app to use external mic and that was it 2. Standard foam mic cover and the additional windsock which others do not provide is a big plus in this kit 3. Extension cord to add alot more length for videoing is another big plus 4. Adapter included with compatibility chart for quick reference 5. GoPro adapter included 6. Extra lapel clip in case you break or lose yours 7. Nice draw string pouch to keep all the extras in for easy use I have used this many times now and I think this is a very good product and it will add great audio to your videos if you are using it like i do to record off my smart phone - I have done video with and without to compare and the difference is awesome for my videos.
