Q: Can I use regular lighter fluid (like in a Zippo) in these?

That's what I use, it works great. The wicks don't seem as substantial as the zippo wicks, but they look similar, so I bet you can use zippo wicks too. The flint is regular sized. Actually, this is the best lighter I've owned, and I've bought them as gifts for people. It doesn't dry out nearly as fast as a zippo and because the wind screen is adjustable, it's more handy than an IMCO (for things like lighting a pipe).

I am honestly not one hundred percent sure on the answer to that, but I do believe the tank is a bit smaller than a zippo. However as there is a really good cover over the wick and an o-ring seal on the cover of the tank itself you will probably get around a week to a week and a half on a single tank, depending on how much use it gets. So around the same amount of use before refill as a standard zippo.

Q: Has anyone submerged this in water, if so did it still light up?

Just like a zippo, it won't work after being submerged. If it's a very quick dunk you might get away with it, but after just a few seconds, it will not likely work. The wick shouldn't get water on it if you dry it completely and then refill with fluid it will work again.
