I am a 48 year old adult who for family holidays purchase Ginger Bread Houses to make with the family to put up cute Christmas decorations around the house after Thanksgiving. Every year I spend close to $150 - $200 a year on Ginger Bread Houses. I feel sad as we take the houses down after Christmas. Sometimes they start to fall apart from the icing melting from the fire place running in the winter, and Ginger Bread crumbs get everywhere. Last year I thought to buy this Lego set and a set of other Lego Christmas town themes to build and place under the Christmas tree! I spent a total of around $600 on various sets to make the town I wanted and built the sets justifying the cost that I spend about $200 a year on the Ginger Bread Houses. This set will be used every year in place of the Ginger Bread Houses. As I put the sets together, my wife who is also 48, joined me and we both enjoyed nostalgic memories of building Legos in our childhood in the 1980's. It was amazing and so much fun! The Lego figures are far cuter than what we had, the Lego instructions were easier to follow, and we loved all of the family characters and animals in the packages! The best part of it all was, unlike Ginger Bread Houses that you build and set as decorations, my wife and I would occasionally change the theme around sometimes setting Grandma and Grandpa at the dinner table visiting the grandchildren, or family shopping together in the town, or other various things through the season... It kinda of became a little Christmas game my wife and I played, waiting to see what story one or the other created for that week! We were just a couple of grown children having fun playing with the Christmas decorations! We had so much fun, we felt sad to take everything down after Christmas. It was an amazing experience and far more fun than Ginger Bread Houses! We can't wait to put everything back up for Christmas this year! We did pack the built town in boxes with Styrofoam fully built... It took a lot of hours to put the sets together! It was a lot of fun, but I don't want to spend that many hours to put an entire town together in three days (laughing)! I probably should have bought on or two sets a year to add to the town as a tradition, but I was stuck between a rock and a hard place when I found specific sets I wanted were expired. You have to remember... "Lego sets expire." What you see available one year may not be available next. If the particular set you want expires you can find it later, but "Lego Brokers" charge far more money than I personally would be willing to pay for Legos. Find what you like and plan accordingly remembering sets expire!

What a delightful build. Learned some new techniques and you can see it fits neatly into my Christmas setting.
