I bought this plunge base since the bosch router set that I bought (set GKF125 CEK) did not come with a plunge base. Save yourself time and frustration and buy the combo with the plunge base. (The kit number is GKF125 CEPK). Anyway, here is a review of the plunge base. I must say, this makes your Bosch 1.25hp router incredibly more versatile. The plunge base nearly doubles the width of the router, adding stability, and thanks to the two rubber coated handles; controllability. There is a "castle" adjustment on the right side for reliable and repeatable depth control. The thumb lever is located very comfortably on the left grip, and is quite easy to use. So easy, in fact, that you can depress the lever accidentally if the left handle is gripped the wrong way. The action is smooth and predictable (on the downstroke, anyway; more about the upstroke later) and due to those rubber coated handles, vibration is kept to a comfortable level. There are a couple of minor issues with this base, though. First, the base has no provision for placing the switch in a more comfortable location, say on the front or the side. It is where it is, you have no say in the matter. This introduces a "fiddly" process into an otherwise smooth operation, add you constantly have to twist or move the router to turn it off or on. The second issue is that the springs inside the plunger are quite stiff. This isn't noticable when you are pressing down, but as soon as you let up, the router will spring up to full height with a surprising amount of force. This usually results in the router trying to hop off the work surface, and requires great concentration on the "upstroke" to make this a smooth operation. In spite of the somewhat frustrating issues, this base had been worth every penny, and I am sorry that I didn't obtain one sooner! With a little practice, (and a through understanding of just how capable this little router is) this will quickly become your favorite router for those "quick" or "not-quite-big-enough-for-the-router-table" jobs. I know it has for me!

This has really proven to make my life a lot easier. Being able to set a depth quickly and easily without spinning a thumbwheel has certainly been a time saver. And the thumb adjustment to plunge the bit is perfect. Nice to have the capabilities of a full size router in something so small

Very happy with the ease of use. For me a plunge base is essential to my work. I will use it to imbed magnets in a knife holder, or If I do not want to use a form I route out a small river for Resin.
