Mercer Culinary Knife Guard,Black 9.5 Inch x 2.5 Inch

I got the 8"x4" & liked it so much I bought two of these smaller ones for the other two Japanese knives in my set. The smaller ones did NOT come with felt inside like the big one for the same price. Smh.

These are very durable (hard, but don't crack) and come in a variety of sizes. They cost less than many competitors. Wish they were translucent so you could at least partially see the blade within. They can cause micro scratches in the cladding of multi-layer blades: san mai (e.g. Mercer's MX3 series), Damascus, etc. Regarding sayas: These usually take up more space than a guard. Which means fewer knives per bag/roll or more volume to transport.

Simple design that works as intended for a large chef knife that doesn't quite fit in my knife block (I keep it in a drawer). Also helpful in case you need to travel with your knives. It's too soon to comment on durability.

Like the felt lining, and the sturdiness of the guard. Also is secure and it doesn't feel like the knife is going to slip out - great product!
