Great portable vacuum.
My previous Black & Decker BDH2000L, which I had for years, recently the motor popped and smelled awful. I was afraid of using it. I decided to buy a new portable vacuum. Since I had several Black & Decker devices over the years, and I've had good experiences, I wanted to buy this one. It's lightweight and for the size, it's good. The design, is great though I wish the nozzle was longer. It comes with a small extension, but it's short. As a tall person, I have to bend down a bit more than my previous small vacuum. The vacuum suction is strong. Just as good as the previous one I had. But the noise level is very loud. If you have a baby or people sleeping, this will wake them up. What I like is the removable battery. For those who say the battery died when they got it, or it died later on, as far as I know, batteries aren't good in cold weather. Most people leave these machines in cold closets or in their garage. Cold weather ruins batteries in my experience. So far, the battery life lasts a long time. But it does take a long time to recharge. For the price, I think it's worth it. I like Black & Decker, and I've had great experiences with their products. If things change, I'll edit this review. But I hope the device will last a long time.

Great little Vacuum easy to clean and replaceable battery.
Great power and easy to use. Very light weight car vac which does well in the Garage and kitchen^^ Easy to clean an last fairly long without recharging. The battery having to be detached to charge is a bit annoying but considering how often the battery goes bad before the device I think it'll last longer than the traditional 2 years. The battery it uses is used on several devices and easily found when it needs replacement.

Works great
Love this vac. Great suction and charges quickly. Feels heavy duty, not cheaply made. A bit on the loud side, but doesn’t bother me. Picks up everything.

This is my 12th (?) 20V unit in this B&D line, works just perfect. Have had several of the rechargeable interior battery types, and did not want another. Once those batteries die, you throw away the unit. Not so here. Good suction, easy clean, and again... always fresh battery life. Going to add a 'catch-all' comment here for all of my B&D 20v purchases, likely repeat on other unit reviews if/when I get the time to post. Started with the 14.4V Bosch products, then moved to the 18V Dewalt, then temped by economics to try the 20V B&D drill (first of the dozen or so 20v units I bought), been using ever since. Not in the profession, but I have done multiple large and small projects the last 10 or so years, including a post frame building, and have had no failures. Dropped original drill from 20' up, broke at the grip, glued it back together with PC7, still working. Have the hand vac, blower, inflater, two other drills, chain saw, hand and cutoff saws, two hedge trimmers, lawn trimmer... happy with all of them. Not designed for industrial use, but that's not what you're paying for here. Handy and dependable units to have around the homestead.

This is the best handheld vac at a decent price!
Believe the AI and the reviews - this thing is the best! The battery lasted more than I needed it to when vacuuming lots of steps and a landing. It is designed well, and comes apart to clean easily. The dirt cup is big, which is a good thing because a lot was picked up. Easy to use, just charge and go - no cords! The noise level isn't bad. Unless you already have the Black and Decker 20v battery and charger, make sure to purchase the vac that includes the battery and the charger. The charger is so small that I thought it was missing but it wasn't. Definitely a good purchase!

Powerful / Versatile
Strong handheld vac with removable battery and effective filtration system. Have several of these pups scattered in kitchen, shop and garage. Generally keep crevice tool attached but works well either way. Empting/cleaning the dust bin and filters can be a bit messy; not much different than other vacs (excluding those with cheap filters that do next to nothing). Moderate noise level; tone is not annoying. Estimate 20-30 min run time from well loved 1.5Ah batteries; YMMV depending on battery size and age. Easy to swap in another when depleted. Good overall value, especially if you have a bunch of smaller 20v B&D batteries from other tool purchases.

Excellent hand vacuum.
I have had several hand vacuums, including another model made by Black and Decker and a Ryobi. This one beats them all. Its use of interchangeable 20 Volt batteries makes it a must have. Suction is very strong, and the unit is lightweight and well made. It also has a crevice tool built into the battery compartment. This makes it even more versatile.

Great designed mini-vac with external battery, roomy easy to clean waste compartment, great suction.
This is the best minivac that I've ever owned, though I've only had it a week. It is simple, and maybe lacks some things that make other vacs better (like an integrated telescoping neck), but it does simple vacuuming well. We generally use on kitchen tile and door mats. It has a large capacity and is very easy to empty. I read one review that said this didn't have enough suction?!?! Maybe they didn't' get the 20v unit (I think there is a 12v one). While it does move a significant amount of air out its side vents, that is probably part of why it has great suction. It does well at sucking pet food crumbs out of the pile of our rug/mat in the kitchen. Its like a mini shop vac. The add-on battery design is great. No reasonably priced minivac with an onboard battery is going to match the battery capacity. Using an external battery means that they didn't have to sacrifice battery size for space when designing it. You don't have to constantly set it to recharge like my old minivac. The battery is also a great weight counter balance. When you hold the unit out with one hand, it feels balanced, not heavy.

I've owned several handheld vacs over the years. All the others were absolute crap; If they worked well initially, they died within a few months when the battery wouldn't hold a charge anymore. And then you couldn't get a replacement battery. This is the first handheld vacuum I've owned that works well (it really sucks), holds a charge (15 - 20 min continuous operating time), recharges reasonably quickly, and the (Li) battery hasn't died in the year we've had it. And when it does die, standard Li batteries from B&D will fit the device. Yes, it was more expensive, but it's been more than worthwhile for the quality of the product we received. Thank you, Black & Decker, for designing and producing a great product!
