Awesome! Even though the wood block was too small to be useful I still gave it a five star for the other items. I thought the cutting tool looked flimsy. However after trying a different hole punch in the hole punch only punch 1/8 of the circle I thought I'd give the cut out tool that came with this set a try. I thought that if I hammered it it might cave in because it was a hollow piece of metal. Surprisingly it held up just fine and it cut in one swipe. Totally awesome because I didn't have to take a pair of scissors to cut out the rest of the hole. As for the grommet tool. You can change the size of the head by screwing in either the 3/8 inch one or the 1/2 in one. I just need to remember the flat side for the bottom which side to use for the half inch. When you hammer it you have to hit it smack middle and very hard so that it would be evenly pressured and the back piece will be flushed with the front all around the circle. It took me a couple of tries but I got the hang of it. Then afterwards I made many grommet holes and put in many new grommets. My project was to fix the tent front that was ripped by the wind. I didn't want to buy another one and replace it. Instead put in more grommets and than the original. If one of them tear I'll just move to the next grommet. The original tent came with silver colored grommets, the grommets I put in are gold in color. They were a good weight and seem of good quality. In fact I bought three extra boxes of grommets. My only wish is that this brand offers the silver color grommets too.

Works exactly as expected

Many reviews have mention that the punches are not sharp, which is true but only because of the black coating on them. Take some sandpaper, remove the coating, and they work better than anything else I’ve tried. I was attempting to punch holes through seat belt webbing but the punches were barely making a dent/impression straight out of the box. - I then purchased a leather punch which worked great at first but it was made of much weaker steel that took not time to dull and roll the sharpened edges. It also had a black coating on it but the punch edge was sharpened to bare steel so I decided to remove the black coating on these punches. - The coating is surprisingly thick and durable but it can be removed by hand with sandpaper. Though to speed up the process of removing it I found a screw that fit tightly inside the 3/8th tapered punch, popped it into my drill, and sanded it off in no time. I also rolled up a piece of sandpaper to remove as much coating on the inside edge as well. I am happy to report the punches are made of a much higher quality hardened steel than what was used on the leather punch I purchased and destroyed in no time. I am not positive what kind of steel is used for the punches but it seems to be a high carbon, high chromium steel, somewhat comparable to D2 knife blades that hold nice edges and can be sharpened over and over again. It is annoying that I had to remove the black coating in order to sharpen it enough to punch holes so I cannot give it 5 Stars.

Don't depend on getting the sets of brass grommets. Just received the kit today. Kit was sealed so maybe someone at the factory can't count? 4 sets and one stand-alone 1/2" grommets (should be 6 complete sets) 4 sets and one stand-alone 3/8" washer (should be 6 complete sets). The tool / dies themselves appear to be sturdy and machined well albeit the inside of the anvil needed some light work to make it smooth in order to eliminate the risk of the washer not seating correctly. The punches are sharp and sized correctly. The 3 stars may seem harsh but it's getting old receiving items that are damaged, missing parts or so delayed that you go buy elsewhere. All in all the tool performs as described and is a good buy regardless.

Great grommet set tool for fabrics and tarps. Easy to use (just supply a hammer).

Grommets are good. Hole cutters are a joke but useful for tracing the hole you will cut with something else. Setting tools work well. Wood block is less useful than a flat steel surface. Overall gets the job done.

It comes with six 3/8” grommets and six 1/2” brass grommets. I’ve used this kit to install a half-dozen grommets on the heavy-duty cover of my portable garage. The hole punches easily went through the double layers of 16 mil tarp and the grommets would work well even if I was using them on thicker material. Handy kit to have for general repairs.

Value for money given the good quality. Easy to use too.

Good little set for small crafts, I bought it to pur grommets on flags to hang inside my house, works great. One thing I wasn't happy with was the lubricant they use to keep the metal pounder pieces from rusting stained a white cloth brown where I set it down. Could easily use a non coloured oil based product to keep from rusting. Just beware where you set it down when you buy it until you wipe it clean. I guess I will also mention I thought they would be sharper for piercing the material, it worked but took a few heavy pounds with a hammer to get through.
