My daughter loves it and has excellent manners as a result.
My daughter just turned 2 and has had this set since she was an infant. We recently purchased another one as a gift for the daughter of a friend. The songs are clear and just loud enough without being overbearing. The desserts are solidly made and great for learning circle, square and triangle. The great thing about this set is that the toy itself actually taught her great manners! My daughter never shouts "No!" as is common with the terrible twos, but always says "No, thank you." Never a "I want juice!" but always "More juice, please?"One thing to clarify about the cups... Some reviewers have complained that the holes in the cups were due to being able to secure them to the packaging. While they may be an added benefit, they are actually there to prevent your child from putting the cups over their nose and mouth, creating suction and suffocating. Besides, you don't want your child playing with actual liquids. She still plays with it constantly and her infant brother is constantly trying to work his way over to the kettle. I would highly recommend this toy and if it were to break (it's been durable thus far and has taken a lot of abuse), would buy another in a heartbeat if it were still age-appropriate.

Perfect as a first tea set
This is such a cute little tea set. A friend of mine bought this for my daughter's first birthday. It is a perfect first tea set. Like the other reviewer mentioned, it is not meant to be used with liquids - which is perfectly fine with me! Less mess! The teapot is the cutest part... there are three different settings: one that just has cute sounds when you "pour" the tea, when you lift/close the lid, and when you press the "tag". The other two settings have various sounds or music and songs that go along with the actions. My daughter is only 12 months old, so pretend play is still somewhat of a foreign concept to her. But we have fun exploring all the sounds the pot makes. She likes to "cheers" the tea cups with me, and she will "take a sip" from the cup and go "Ahhhh" at the end. I imagine she will grow into this toy a little more in the next few months!UPDATE: Still a favorite toy at 27 months! She sings along with the teapot, and will set up all of her stuffed animals and offer them tea. It is just too cute. We have other tea sets, but she still gets this "pot" to pour since it makes all the sounds!

Just Perfect
I was looking for something special to get for my daughter at Christmas & I had an idea to get her a teapot with cups since she loves playing with the plates and cups in my picnic set so much. I am so happy I picked this one. It's adorable and she absolutely loves it! She just turned 15 months so the cup size is just perfect for her. She's starting to learn sharing and since there are two cups and yummy cakes included, she likes to share her tea and cakes with you when playing. She knows how to push the button to get the teapot to sing (which is probably her favorite part of this set) and gets a kick out of the pouring noise it makes. She has lots of other Fisher Price laugh & learn toys so its nice that they are all similar to one another in some way. I love that it's pink and purple too since purple is my favorite color :)

Too cute to pass up
I bought this for my one year old granddaughter because it was the only appropriate tea set for her age. The "thank you" from her mother was polite, but not enthusiastic. "She'll grow into it." and "She wanted water to come out of it."My daughter-in-law was absolutely right. Three months later, I received a phone call that thrilled me. Seems a one year old is a bit too young for this set, but still worth purchasing at this age. And, the no water part works out for the best. No mess. Just pretend. At fifteen months she adores the songs and especially the "please" and "thank you." The best part? She placed all the "goodies" in the correct places, then carefully carried the plate over to serve her aunt. (Not an easy feat when her best friend is a 120 lb. dog.)It's difficult to purchase a toy for a grandchild who lives in another state. I guess I researched this product well and was rewarded with the glowing report from her mom.

Re-purchased
We had this set when my oldest was a baby and we bought it again for the newest addition. It's great quality and the songs and phrases are wonderful. I love the focus on manners. The little treat plate is a shape sorter, too! one thing i don't understand is why the triangle and the circle treat are solid pieces (I like this) and the square treat is hollow with an open bottom. What to expect in each mode:Counting Mode:'It's Learning Time""1 Pretty Teapot'" songopen/closepouring sound/mmmm/more pleasepouring sound/why thank you/gigglepouring sound/you're very welcomeMusic Mode:"It's Music Time""Time to Share a Pot of Tea" song"Tea Tea Tea for 2" songtinkling sound as you open and close the lidvarious tinkling sounds as you "pour"Tea Party Mode.Bubbling Soundgiggles when open, creaks when closedpouring sounds, gurgling soundswhistle tune

Good toy but has limited play value. First one defective.
I got this for my 18 month old daughter for Christmas. The first one we got was defective. One of the modes didn't work at all. So we got a replacement directly from FP. The new one worked but for some reason the voice was more "sped up". I don't know why this is. None of the stores have it sped up. But on to the toy.The construction is good. My daughter has thrown it around a bunch and it still works fine. I like that it has "please and thank you's" included. Not very many toys teach these kind of things. I guess I wouldn't say it teaches it, it more reinforces it.My daughter plays with it very occassionally. Mostly she just plays the music with the button. It is pretty limited in terms of play value but it does what it advertises.I like the tip and pour motion. It is a good mimic for the child of pouring a real pot into a glass.I would reccomend buying this but don't expect it to have a long term replay value. It's an occassional use toy but it is very cute!

Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Say Please Tea Set
The media could not be loaded. I have bought this for my niece for Christmas however I couldn't resist 'testing it out to make sure it works' and as I have come to expect from Fisher Price this is yet another brilliant toy. Not that I am against giving my son a pink teapot but I do wish that they did this in another more gender neutral colour too such as green and yellow and I think Fisher Price are missing out on a lot of business and little boys a lot of fun by them not doing this as I know a lot of parents who wouldn't give their son a pink teapot. I have emailed Fisher Price with this suggestion and hopefully they may consider it in future. This is such a charming little toy with three modes of play; imagination, music and learning and the teapot responds to whichever setting you select by using the slide on the front of the teapot. For example in the imagination role when you tip the teapot to 'pour it' it makes glugging (very realistic) tea pouring sounds, in the music mode it plays a little tune and in the learning mode it makes a glugging noise and says "you're very welcome" to teach manners. The teapot also interacts when you open the lid by teaching opposites such as "open" and "close" in the learning mode, playing a little ascending and descending tune in the music mode and giggling and making a closing noise in the imagination mode. There is also a little teabag button on the front of the teapot which again interacts in the different modes when pushed by either playing a whistling tune (imagination mode), two little charming songs (music mode) or teaching numbers and shapes via a song (learning mode). The two little cups are the perfect size for little hands and the shape sorting cake tray has cakes in a circle, triangle and square shape to show different shapes. These cakes whilst not soft and squishy are perfect for teething and again the perfect size for little hands. A brilliant little toy which I am sure my niece will love at Christmas as I have thoroughly enjoyed 'testing it' myself.EDIT 10/08/2014:-My niece absolutely loved this tea set for Christmas and apparently it is one of her favourite toys. I have since had my own little girl and have bought a tea set for her too which both she and my toddler son love playing with together. A brilliant little tea set that I would highly recommend.EDIT 09/01/2016:- I have attached a couple of pictures of the newer version of this tea set alongside this older version. I can confirm that both play sets are very much loved and played with by my children and so whichever set you decide to get I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Wonderful, even though it's pink
When I first saw this, I admit I shuddered. Pink. Plastic. Yuck. But I was wrong (in this case). My kids received it as a gift when they were one. They still play with it 5 years later. It has not aged at all and is still popular with all young visitors, both boys and girls. It's allure for me, apart from not breaking despite being ravaged by twins for years, is the audio. When the lid is lifted or the tea poured, you get satisfying gurgling sounds or musical scales. There is also a learning-time option with a counting song, and a music-time option with two different songs about nice manners. The songs are all in English-English, my favourite (yes, I do hum it to myself at work) being set to an almost "Carry On..." tune: "Time to share a pot of tea, some for you, some for me, let's take turns and always say please and thank you".It just makes me smile.

My daughter loves this set!
I bought this tea set for my daughter when she was 1 year old and 3 years later she still plays with it! She particularly likes the tea pot, she loves dancing to its music and also like to have the noise when pretending to pour tea in the cups. She also plays with the llittle cakes very often. I usually prefer wooden toys (we have the kidkraft vintage red wooden kitchen for 2 years now, it is absolutely fabulous and both my daughter and her older brother play with it every single day!) so I wasn't amazed with the look of this pink plastic toy when received but my daughter loves it and the noise/songs are ok, not as annoying as other loud toys could be.

Adorable toy. I bought it for my 14 month ...
Adorable toy. I bought it for my 14 month old son as he likes playing with cups. He loves the whole set. There is so much fun you can have with it: the water pouring sound when you tilt the tea pot is great; the cake plate is a very basic shape sorter/jigsaw - nice way for the little ones to grasp the idea easily; the cake are a good size to put inside the pot or cups; etc. There is a lot more play than I imagined when we ordered this. My only compliant is that it's pink. Boys like to cook too! Would be lovely in red or yellow.

A Cute Thing.
I wasn't ever ever going to buy this, especially coming across the updated version and hating it, only my little one really likes the pouring sound on it, so we used some of her Christmas money to get it and I'm pleasantly surprised, and wonder why they had to update it, because this version is so much better! The voice isn't nearly so annoying, nor as loud, the teapot stands up, it doesn't roll about, the cakes are really heaps nicer, the whole look of the thing is much more attractive. I still think it's pretty limited for the money, my daughter has another musical tea set which cost the same and which does twice as much, but it's quite a cute thing, and that pour certainly makes you thirsty! And, the thing she likes, in one mode it will pour out without saying anything. Perfect for dolls' tea parties.
