Oh My Goodness, this is the best quilting book!!!
Ok, I was skeptical about getting another quiling book to sit on my shelf, but the mixed reviews pulled me into another Amazon purchase.I do not usually leave a review. This is hands down the best quilting book of ideas I have ever seen. It is well worth every dollar it cost. I am only half way through the first time looking at the book and I am overwhelmed with ideas!!! Ms. Maraccini does not focus on a few boring old patterns we have all seen. Her focus is on putting ideas for YOUR special creation in your head. She has so many free motion drawings my head is spinning. The Cabbage Leaf square the other reviewer had trouble with made perfect sense to me after I read her instructions. I only have a short arm machine with limited stitch field and am learning the Karen McTavish kind of quilting, since I am getting board with just doing 5" straight across pantagraph type of designs all over the quilt top. Mastering the Art of McTavishing McTavish has the CD to watch and learn with too. But, with Maraccini I can see how I can take the skills I have learned with McTavish and really create some show stoppers! She shows you how to take any quilt you can create and quilt it with any kind of machine you may have. For Truponto and one piece quilts again I have to refer to Karen McTavish also CD included The Secrets of Elemental Quilting: Innovative Quilting Designs plus Trapunto Tips & Tricks But, pared up with Maraccini I don't feel the need to buy another quilt book ever! I think these three books are the only quilting arts books I will go to for ideas. Machine Quilting Solutions is not as difficult to accomplish as it looks like it might be. What I plan to do is get a dry erase board and practice her drawings, buy thread that matches my quilt back ground and enjoy letting the mojo flow from my fingers through my machine and onto my quilts!!! If I wanted to I could put the designs into pantagraph style and stitch it out as well...with Machine Quilting Solutions I feel I have found the inspiration I have been looking for!!! Now to get back to the rest of the book~~~

Machine Quilting Solutions- Far from dull
I, like many on Amazon, rely on reviews that are written specifically about the item you are thinking about purchasing. I did purchase this book after reading the majority of the reviews, out of 19 reviews, 17 gave 5 stars, 1 gave 4 stars and 1 gave a 2 star. The majority got it right with this one for certain!I am on a quest to teach myself free motion machine quilting. I have a few other fine books as well, that I am also using to try and achieve my goals. This book, like most, goes over the basics about the machine setup, thread and how to get started. Also how to develop muscle memory, which is very important. But what sets this great book apart from some of my other books, it actually shows you common quilts that we all have probably done and how to decode it to see what designs will work best for it.This is not a book of patterns per say, this is a book to get your own thinking cap on & working to learn how to make your own quilts stand out above the rest. As others have stated, she shows you several motifs on the same type of quilt and it gives you the needed push to use your imagination, instead of simply following a predetermined motif, without much thought process involved.I don't care for quilt kits to start with. I like designing my own, cutting out my own fabric. So it stands to reason this book is going to be a wonderful way to finally move forward and decide for myself what designs will work best and why, as this book is full of information on how to get there successfully. So if you are like me who loves to learn and take your creativity to a new level- this is a must have book for you.If you are a very experienced free motion quilter looking for patterns, I still think gaining another perspective can be beneficial for you too. There are always many ways to accomplish the same thing and this might just be what clicks for you as well.EXCELLENT book with plenty of photos, diagrams and pointers from a very experienced quilter, Christine Maraccini!

Needs different venue for me.
While this book seems to have some great patterns and ideas, I made the mistake of ordering it for my Kindle. Not only is that too small (for me) for the illustrations, but seeing it in grayscale as opposed to color is a problem when trying to see the illustrations of the actual quilting on the quilt tops. Especially problematic are the portions of text that are printed in something other than black...another grayscale visibility problem. In the actual photographs of the finished quilts, it's impossible to see the actual quilting. It isn't until the quilting designs are inked over and dark that they're visible on the Kindle. (Mine's a keyboard Kindle.) I should have ordered the hard copy!

helpful free motion quilting patterns
I have been looking for some quilting patterns, bit his book is more about learning to do things free motion. This book has several quilts - quilted 3 different ways. The dragger is edge to edge freehand quilting. The keepsake is quilting in blocks or areas of the quilt freehand. The showstopper is a more complicated freehand in blocks or areas. I love that she takes you step by step on how to do each style of the quilting. No patterns to trace, but a great lesson on how to be free from the patterns.

Great Resource
I found the techniques easy to follow and I liked the way the author led you through , expanding your skill base along the way. The patterns are user friendly , very useful and overall the book is a very good addition to my quilting library. I return to it often and usually find a a pattern I can adapt. Very Happy!!

Refreshing approach
I have numerous books on patterns and "Machine Quilting' but this is the first one that breaks down the process in such detail with so many actual examples. It was most helpful to read about how to quilt based on use and then to see the same quilt, quilted for each of the 3 main uses.I highly recommend this book as a 'must have' resource for anyone who isn't highly advanced. It really will make the process of finishing the top much more enjoyable and give you a shot of confidence.

Good and very clear guidance
Good, clear guidance on new solutions for quilting designs for a novice quilter venturing away from 'in the ditch' sewing.

理想的
マシンキルトの本は何冊か持っていますが、実際のキルトに入れた全体図を見ることが出来るものはなかなかなかったけれど、これはイメージがつかみやすく、また進め方も丁寧に図解されていて理想的な一冊でした。
