What material is the turn table mat made of?

I believe it's an acrylic vinal material. It's hard, but soft and does a lot for your tracking and overall Ambience. Get it!

Do you remove the original mat and just use this or both?

You will want to remove the original mat as it defeats the purpose of having an acrylic mat as the static would still build up on the mat below. If you do choose to keep the original mat on for some reason you will need to adjust the tracking force and height of tone arm to compensate for the added height of having 2 mats.

Does it actually work ? Is it better than felt ?

I can’t tell a big audio difference. Maybe a bit more bass and resonance, but every table is different. I will say it helped my Audio Technica by leveling out the arm more. I actually put it in top of my felt pad. Plus it looks hella cool!!! For the price it’s worth doing. Great company that actually has other great stuff like measurement devices and such.
