Just a Wonderful Video Set!
I grew up in the late 1970's and early 80's watching golf tournaments on Wide World of Sports with my grandfather. As my love for the game began to grow, so did my excitement for watching my favorite player, Tom Watson. During that period, Tom was winning more tournaments than Jack and played (like Jack) with the professional grace of a true champion. To say that his 2009 run at the British Open, at the age of 59, was an inspiration to me would not even begin to cover it. And so after stupidly waiting some four years, I finally bought Tom's "Lessons of a Lifetime" instructional video, in a wonderful new edition that is so much more than worth every penny, I can only say run, do not walk, to get this set. For so many years Tom was my favorite player, and now he is my favorite teacher. Disc One begins with a wonderful intro showing Tom's winning chip at the 1982 US Open at Pebble Beach, easily one of the top 10 moments in professional golf. A soon as his subsequent birdie putt falls on the 18th green, we hear that wonderful Wide World of Sports golf music (Barry White's "Love's Theme". Remember it?) and Oh, the memories that came back! Following the wonderful intro, we are off and running with the best darn golf instruction you will ever get anywhere! Suffice to say that Tom covers absolutely everything, and does so in a way that is simple, straightforward and effective. He forgoes the overly technical instruction of many of today's instructors and sticks to the time-tested, common sense approach to the game that has made him a champion player for over four decades. The new three-disc set is made up of 69 individual lessons, progressing logically from tee to green, so that you can quickly access the instruction you need quickly and easily, anytime part of your game is in need of repair. Throughout the entire set, Tom is the consummate gentleman, frequently discussing Jack Nicklaus and other players who have inspired him. In "Lessons of a Lifetime", Tom Watson teaches us more than how to hit better shots. He shows us how to enjoy and appreciate this great game and, in this age of declining etiquette, shows us what a true gentleman golfer really is.

Third disk is worth the price difference.
After viewing and re-viewing the Lessons of a Lifetime in the first 2 disks I found it helped my game greatly. The third disk is 22 advanced tips for after you have the basics down. It's no substitute for a golf pro to analyze your grip, stance, and swing. But this disk series is about the same price as a half hour with a golf pro and you can go back over the content over and over as needed. Well worth the price.

An Excellent Instruction Guide for a new Golfer
For someone starting out new such as myself in Golf, this instruction set is excellent. It needs multiple viewings to digest the techniques mentioned, as expected. Very articulate commentary and clear, concise and logical video instructions. Well worth the $45. A Blu Ray disc instead of the DVD would have been nice, keeping with the times.

Great series for fundamentals
Great video segments that really helped my game. I am returning to golf after about 30 years away. While I am not a rank beginner, I did need some reminding about the basics. This series was just perfect. In fact, when things go a little astray, I just pop in the right segment and let Mr. Watson remind me of the proper technique. I can't think of a better instructor, or one with more credibility. Well done!

The new disc doesn't seem worthwhile, but overall a good deal
Lessons of a Lifetime 2 includes the original 2 disc set, but with a new 3rd disc with "advanced" lessons. I viewed the third disc and felt it wasn't worth the extra price of admission. The additional topics are interesting, but not as useful as those in his first 2 discs. The quality of the case is very bad, as it arrived fairly damaged (from the Tom Watson store) and couldn't close, with a lot of scratches on the discs. It's not as sturdy as the case used for the first 2 disc volume. Tom Watson is very articulate with his words, but also gets straight to the point. The instructional videos also feature a lot of visual aids to assist the viewer. The self congratulatory segments are goofy, but worthwhile to see because it shows how much golf has evolved over the years. Overall: 4/5 stars, a good deal overall but I felt the 3rd disc wasn't all that useful.
