Q: What do I need to do to prep the surface before using Tac Free?

There is no prep for using tac free. Simply wait for the vinyl paint to dry then use tac free over entire surface as directed on can. Disregard my previous answer as I misunderstood your question on my original answer. I’m unable to find and edit my original answer.

Q: Can I spray this directly on the sticky vinyl? Or do I have to clean/prep it first?

not 100% certain - I would think it should be cleaned and prepped first - call SEM people - they have good technical help

Q: How was coverage from one can & did one coat cover? also, does this go on clear? i'm concerned as i want to use over white painted seats

Yes it went on clear, covered 2 marine vinyl cushions 2x3 and still have most of the can leftover. Seemed to work well after 1yr. 1st use the SEM vinyl paint let it cure then spray this over it.

I'm not expert but I used it on my vinyl coat job and it worked great. Sem Tac Free stops plasticizer migration on the vinyl coat surface "it eliminates a tacky feeling to the vinyl surface that could happen" and is a protective coating. After the cost of Sem soap, vinyl prep, vinyl coat spray what's the cost of another $ 15.00 for the Tac free and Your time to do the job right? Call the experts at Sem at 800-831-1122.
