Great Clock!
My very significant other bought me this clock for a present, many years ago. It survived a number of generations of felines, who playfully used the a/c cord for a toy.Cats think that anything that moves is fair game, including my toes. However, after more than 20 years, the original clock hit square on the very top, which houses the button to snooze, or turn on the night display light, etc. It did not survive. So I researched buying another one.Emailing my plight to the people at Oregon Scientific - the manufacturer - I asked if they had a repair service. They did not, but would give me a discount to buy a new one from their web site.Too bad their ethics are not as good as their products.Naturally, I searched for this, and other atomic-synched clocks, and found that Amazon sold the very same, newly updated - to include inside temperature - clock, which looked identical to the one which the cats decided had lasted long enough.Even better, Amazon charged much less than the manufacturer would have charged, had they kept their word and offered a discount. So I saved a bunch of money, while replacing my all-time favorite alarm clock with a brand new, complete with inside temperature, atomic-synched clock. A push of a button will put a display of the time on your ceiling, or wall, as well as light up the front display. And the accuracy cannot be beat, as it truly does synch to the atomic clocks, just like most Windows PCs do.I can now sleep in peace, knowing that this alarm clock will not fail to wake me - in increasingly louder chirps - when I must get up in the morning, and that I can see how long it is taking me to get to sleep, because of the bright and clear display. It's a great clock, and it's time you treated yourself and maybe your kids, too. After all, the blue one is in a nearly clear case, so the kids can see the inner workings of this neat little, functional toy.

2 have now each lasted 7 years!!!
I had my first of these from 09- 2016. I replaced it with a 2nd, which is just now showing signs of starting to have issues projecting the time.Pros:Super easy to useLots of display options like date, inside tempVery easy to tell what time the alarm is set forProjects on the ceiling so you don't have to roll over to.look at the clockCons:For some reason the clock takes about a week after a time change to finally set itself. This may be a function of where it is in the house. Luckily, the timezones are easy to switch to compensate

The writing on the Wall
[...]I got it exclusively for the projection, but realize I'll be able to turn my cell phone off if I use this clock as an alarm instead of my cell phone. I can wake up to a watch alarm easily enough so the low level of this clock's alarm won't bother me. I'm 61 years old and have trouble reading my back lit watch in the middle of the night. This clock's projection worked just perfectly; 3 or 4 inches on the ceiling when projected from the night stand. It was automatically 13 hours off when I plugged it in, but the projection showed up on the ceiling even though it was the middle of the afternoon. By the time I got it placed right, it had adjusted to the correct time. I could be mistaken, but I believe you could press the "reset" button(on the bottom)if you make the mistake of setting it manually when you get it. IMO, the atomic automatic setting worked perfectly. Big surprise, it set to the same time as my other atomic alarm clock and my computer's clock.I haven't figured out why it doesn't use the AC current to drive both the clock and projection, and use the batteries as a back up during power failures. I took it out, plugged it in and the weak battery signal started blinking. I guess that's par for the course and a good reason why so many products don't come with batteries.I'll come back and do an update if it breaks and/or when the batteries fail. If it lasts a reasonable time, I'm very happy with it.

Great idea, but cheaply made
This is the third of these clocks we have purchased. I guess we keep buying them because they tend to work for a while and it is a great idea in theory. The $15 price tag makes them semi-disposable and I have to admit that the alarm function works as described and has never failed. The issue is mainly with the projection. They usually work great for the first few months, but after a while sections of the projection begins to fail and within the space of a year or two there isn't enough of the projection visible to be able to decipher the time. Also only works in a fairly dark room. If you have a bedside light with a bulb over 40 watts you probably won't be able to see the projection on the ceiling until you turn the light off. Still, in the middle of the night it's pretty cool to be able to glance up at the ceiling without having to fumble for your glasses or roll over and look at the nightstand to check the time. All that said, it had been a couple years since we purchased our last atomic clock and it was time to replace the current one. When we received our clock this time there were a few changes. The casing feels a bit lighter (more cheaply made) and the digital display is not as bold. The numbers and text are a bit smaller/harder to see than the previous model. Could have lived with that, but when we plugged it in and turned on the projection...this clock projected the time UPSIDE DOWN from the previous two units we've owned. Makes it really hard to read the time. You'd have to turn the clock to face the wall next to your bedside to see the time projected right side up...but the problem with that is that there is a slight angle to the projection and the time is now projected on the wall instead of the ceiling.Sending this one back!
