Strategic Play: The Creative Facilitator's Guide #2: What the Duck!

I just finished reading this book, and wanted to let you know how incredibly happy I am that you took the time to write such a great book. I just returned from completing the Certified Facilitator using the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method course taught by Robert Rasmussen; I was searching on Amazon to purchase additional duck pieces when I came upon your book. Wow, am I lucky. I've already identified several activities that I'm going to introduce into an Agile workshop I am conducting in Fredericton, Canada next week. Thank you so much for having the courage and desire to write and publish this book. Hopefully, we'll see more publications from you as well.

This was an easy read, though more rewarding are the exercises that can be done during many kinds of group settings, with the right (or comparable) supplies.

I really love the book, it gives a lot of examples on how to use the duck. Very practical.

Great book

I'll just say this. If you're an LSP facilitator, you need this book. Unlike other books on LSP where they try to make you buy the book thinking you will be able to teach the process when you're done, this book doesn't do that. It gives you great theory and builds/tips for using the 'ducks' in your sessions. I love this book. I highly recommend.

I'm frustrated with this purchase. Photos were great and there were a few fun activities listed but there was a lot of repetition that could have been reduced. We could have gotten variations of the exercises instead of pages and pages of variations. For this price I expected more activities. The rhyming poetry didn't offer much to me and wish we had been given more substance instead.

This is not a book. Not at all. I was stupid enough to pay the double price to get it faster. Just received. The only valuable part (I hope) is the Reference List. I am so disappointed.

Esse livro me surpreendeu pela quantidade de práticas que são possíveis com apenas 6 peças de Lego. A metodologia Serious Play tem em seu DNA a mão na massa e esse livro reflete isso, vários exemplos de dinâmicas a serem feitas com a mão na massa, ou melhor dizendo, nos blocos de montar.

The book offers several interesting challenges that can be done using the duck-bricks. It can really be useful for facilitating groups, getting people to interact, improving teamwork, et cetera. But although the introduction of the book is on LEGO SERIOUS PLAY, half of the challenges in the book are not really LSP. To give one example: one of the main characteristics of LSP is that LEGO-models are used as a metaphor. But several exercises in the book are nothing about assigning meaning to the material, but just about using them as part of a cooperative playful exercise. Still useful off course.

In the workshop, I often do session using Duck 's block at introduction part. This "Strategic Play" is a highly helpful, highly suggestive book for authorized facilitator.
