Customer Service is Excellent!
I purchased this product over a year ago along with several other items from Topens. I installed it myself and the hardest part was digging the trenches for the wires. The gate opener worked perfectly for the past year, and I am extremely satisfied. After a year something went wrong and I contacted Emilia at Topens and even though the warranty expired the customer service I received was EXCELLENT! The problem was diagnosed, and I was sent step by step instructions for the repair. Everything is working perfectly again. The repair was completed easily.

A good size
Very easy to install. Instructions are easy to follow. The hardest part was getting the cover off the controller box. The screws are small and inset. The push button is large and easy to see on a rainy night. I have two on my farm gates and they have never failed. Excellent product.

Quit working after 2 months
Installation was easy and it worked well for about a month but became unreliable after that and finally quit working after about 2 months. I took it apart and found that the push lever wasn't pressing the switch far enough in to activate the gate. Holding the switch tight against the front cover allowed it to work but there was no good way to hold it in that position. I ended up adding some shims between the switch and front seal and it works now but it's not right. A second though minor issue is that the screws that secure the front cover rusted after the first rain. The switch came with plugs to cover the screws, glad I didn't install them because I wouldn't have been able to remove the front cover to work on the switch problem if I had. Within days of posting this review I was contacted by TOPENS customer service with an apology for the problems and instructions for obtaining a warranty replacement. I followed-up and had the replacement within about a week. The replacement was installed and it's been working fine so far. I really like this switch, it's definitely waterproof and the design is better than any of the other switches I've seen, I hope this replacement is good for the long-haul.

*NOT* weatherproof, cheaply built
I could have bought a momentary switch for as little as a dollar, or even made my own. I could have bought a switch that wasn't so obtrusively large. I specifically bought this product instead of a myriad of other options because I assumed (oops) that since it is made by the same people that make the outdoor motorized gate hardware I purchased, it would be both weatherproof and well built. Wrong on both counts. the gray switch has been installed for about a year now and has already sunfaded to green (upside: it now matches the color of my green house). It is mounted East facing on the North side of my house. Its just not getting that much sunlight. The metal hardware is already rusted. Is that the quality I paid extra for? To top it off the contacts inside make poor connection leading to pressing the button extra hard which leads to the hinge partially failing. It still works, but now you dont press the bottom of the hinges button, you press the whole thing in to get the gate to operate. Given the quality, this switch should sell for $10. At that price point I'd be perfectly happy with all of its failings but I feel like a sucker for having paid $45 for it.

Topens TC148
Added this so visitors are not dependent on me opening the gate for exit. Very nice addition, especially if you have your gate set to auto close!
