t waste your money (and time)
Yes, it talks to Alexa, and yes, it need to be periodically reconnected. A real pain if the plug is behind furniture. And No, it does not control the Switchmate light switch acting as a hub with Alexa, as I was told by their support that it would.Regarding the Switchmate light switch, Yes it connects to the IOS or Android app and No, not to anything else. I was told that the Wink 2 Hub would control the Switchmate lightswitch, but, guess what, and no surprise, Switchmate dropped support of the Wink 2. I had counted on that as the way to control the lightswitch via Alexa, but, nooooo. So I ditched all the Switchmate stuff, bought a Versa Z-Wave Controller and a virtually identical competitor to the Switchmate lightswitch, Ecolink Z-Wave Plus Single Gang Toggle Wireless Light Switch TLS-ZWAVE5. Fits over my fireplace toggle switch, and guess what, It works perfectly with Alexa. i can now turn my fireplace switch on/off with an Alexa voice command, "Alexa, Turn on (or off) the Fireplace"...and it turns it on, or off.So Folks, don;t waste your money (and time). I was told by Switchmate that the power outlet would work with the Switchmate light switch and it does not, and, I see no indication it ever will. How come there are no 0 stars for an Amazon review?

A little buggy at times
Initial connection was not as user friendly as many other apps and devices. Connection can be spotty at times with the switch. Alexa integration works but has a 5-10 second lag from accepting and confirming the command to activating the remote switch.

EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS IN MANY WAYS!!!
Talk about easy to operate and install. My wife bought this mainly to have the 2 USB ports readily available without having to unplug other units. She was thrilled when she realized it could also serve as a night light. She did reach out to technical support to ask a question via e-mail and was blown away when she received an immediate response back from them. Voice activation, timers, and being able to control the unit from our cell phones gives us such a sense of security. Thank you so much for developing this amazing product. Not only will we be buying many more for our home, but I see these as great and very useful Christmas gifts for our friends and family!

Scam - Waste of money, Doesn't Work.
The plug arrives with non-English instructions and requires an App that isn't available and is made for an older version of android. Must be an old or defunct technology in inventory that they are pawning off because they couldn't sell it anywhere else. This is essentially just an expensive plug cover with a night light. Absolute waste of money! Was just looking for an outlet I could plug things into and control via Bluetooth or Wifi. I tried multiple smart home Apps and scanned for devices via Bluetooth and Wifi and the plug just doesn't give off a detectable signal.

Switchmate Power
I use this product to remotely control 2 outlets and associated lights. I also use the integrated USB to connect cell phone charger cables (wireless charging stand) for our cell phones. What I like: Works most of the time (wait for it on the next section). I do like that it is 2 outlets and 2 USB ports. Relatively slim for a "overlay product"...it sits over the existing outlet. Integration with Alexa took some time, but it helped when I <actually> read the directions for pairing, setting up, etc. Scheduler is straighforward and easy to use. You can give each plug a name and control individually via Alexa voice control or through the Alexa app. What I don't like: Sometimes will lose connection and stop responding. This is remediated by unplugging the unit and plugging it back in (rebooting in essence). This was an early frequent problem, but seems to have died down with the latest updates, but still occurs sometimes. A pain when the outlet is behind something heavy.Improvements that could be made: A dark color option. A more seamless overlay option to the plug (should cap around the wall plate...would be wider/taller, but would look better). "Side mount" 4 gang plugs that could go behind a dresser or entertainment center. Since this attaches on the plate, it + wall plugs sticks out a bit far to be behind a piece of furniture that is flat. Built in surge suppression in a model...maybe the side gang or expanded model I mentioned earlier. An ability to use the center wall plate screw to keep in place (especially if 4 gang is explored).Overall: Stupid simple easy, and completely unobtrusive way to play with plug automation without having to reinstall plugs. Ultimately, might want to install actual smart plugs, but I have not been compelled to yet.

If you want to only use app this works fine
First I had an issue connecting to my wifi router but got it connected with bluetooth just fine. Later I went to set up wifi again. I do have strong security but it was a Linksys AC1200 dual band. I tried all sorts of trouble shooting. Thankfully I had an old ISP provided D-Link router with weak security to get it configure. Once configured that worked fine also. However, I have not been able to get it to connect to my Alexa echo dot, it keeps saying that the Hub requires a firmware update to connect. I ensured the switchmate device was fully updated and confirmed my Alexa dot was up to date as well. I don't recommend this if you're looking to use the voice activation service through Alexa.

Happy me
Not too complicated to install, just had to wait for a firmware update to load. This outlet is exactly what I was looking for, with a couple of added bonuses. Each of the two outlets operates independently so the top plug can be turned on and off, as well as programmed on a timer, and so can the bottom plug. Now, I can leave my wall switch on, remotely turn off the lamp and air diffuser separately. Yay!There are 2 USB ports on the bottom of the unit so I was able to use those, instead of an outlet to charge my phone and watch.Organizes my situation well. Worth the $$.

Using a brick would be a better smart-toggle switch
I bought this portable dumpster fire about a year ago because the original Switchmate rocker doesn't have integration with any Amazon Echo products, and the main reason I bought the rocker was to use it with my smart home devices. Since then I've had absolutely nothing but problems with it, including but not limited to the following:- The device frequently and repeatedly will not pair with the associated Switchmate Alexa skill, despite the pairing codes matching IDENTICALLY, and will often require you to repeat this process another 20+ times to pair it, if you're lucky- For whatever stupid reason, the device won't connect to 2.4GHz WiFi networks that do not have a password (which encompasses almost all the networks in my student housing complex, as every unit has inclusive utilities) and this fact isn't advertised ANYWHERE on the product info- Repeatedly and incorrectly will claim that your associated Switchmate rocker/toggle switch is nowhere close to the device, even if you legitimately place them RIGHT NEXT to each other- Will often freeze and become unresponsive to any Amazon Echo prompts, only responding to commands from its trash mobile app (and requires you to pair the device again to your Amazon Echo product(s))- Customer support will ghost you worse than the average high-school girl, so you're practically SOL if you run into any of these problemsIf Bernie Madoff were to make a fraudulent smart home product, it's very likely it'd look just like this. Avoid this piece of garbage like it's the Bubonic plague.

Always something that causes a problem!
It was a one-second install (you just plug it into a socket). The app was set up almost as fast. Connecting to Google was easy, but connecting to our Echo's was a chore, to say the least. I will chalk it up to me not knowing the echo system very well. If you find you are having trouble finding this item listed in the SKILLS area, do a search in the SKILLS STORE, and it is listed in there, otherwise, you'll be pulling your hair out trying to find that particular skill.

Don't update firmware before connecting to wi fi
Hi, my first power I updated the firmware and, like many others, could not connect to wi fi. The 2nd one I skipped updating and connected first. Imagine my delight and surprise when it worked and the wi fi networks came into view! I could then update the firmware and it works perfectly. I wish the company would understand this and tell people to do this. I also wish you could reset power to factory settings but I did not find any instructions about this. Yasmine

Works great, even better if you want a full-time night light
Great timer, works perfectly and the app is very easy to use. I’m not using any smart home features - I just wanted to have an easy to use timer that would turn on the lights at different times while I’m not home. The reason for taking off a star is that there’s a very bright blue ring of light around this device that I can’t figure out how to turn off.
