I have 2 zones i would like to mow, with about 75 feet of a driveway in-between. Is it possible to traverse drive and automatically mow both?

No, it is NOT possible to drive, either automatically or manually to a second zone. It's one of the things that I really don't like about this unit. in order to mow an additional zone, you have physically pick up the mower, move it to the second zone, enter the pass code, and, then when you want to move it back, repeat the whole process.

I have a small yard bound on one side by a wall, and steel edging sticking up 1" around the rest of the yard, can that steel be used as boundry wire?

My gut feeling is no. Something about the docking station doesn't scream high power transmitter to me. If you're sure there are no shorts in the fence ( you have tested continuity) I say try it. Sounds like a lucky break if it works. You still need a line in the middle of the loop leading back to the base. It uses this when going home after a run. One thing to note, the mower always goes past the loop. It is embedded in the firmware. The minimum distance is 20 cm. Just be sure to set the blade height appropriately.
