I did not find that it was good about a thoughtful opinions about a lot of places. It was not made for the type of travelling I like to do in terms of getting to know the culture and people and giving the fibe of the places and a bit more detail. I much prefer Rough Guides beause they are a bit more authentic about places and are a bit more geared for a more thoughtful travel adventure.

Great pictures and lots of information. The text of book is very nice and easy to read. Not a cheaply made book at all and was worth purchasing. It also has beautiful pictures and the book includes maps. 10/10

I visited Costa Rica about 20 years ago, want to go again, and bought this book as an update to my 1999 guidebook. I travel a lot, own 30-40 guidebooks and really like this 2023 publication. The book is well organized and well written, with lots of helpful comments and suggestions. The color photos are excellent and helped me visualize many of the sights the authors describe. I appreciate Frommer’s use of 1, 2 or 3 stars to indicate their relative rankings of different items. And I like their cross references, where they often provide page numbers next to items (e.g. in Best of or Suggested Itinerary sections) to indicate where you can find additional information about that item. I am impressed with the 2023 Frommer’s Costa Rica guidebook and recommend that you buy it if you are going to go to Costa Rica.

I'm more a backpacker girl traveling with a 1*-3 *** cousin. It's geared more to my cousin. But it packs a lot of information and has a lot of maps. Buying used was easy and the book was in good shape, as advertised.
