Great for tracking workouts!
Great product! I needed a notebook to track my workout progress that could withstand water and sweat. I bought this notebook and the pen that is recommended with it. The pen writes smoothly and clearly whether the paper is wet or dry and does not smudge. The book itself is stitched and very durable. It lays flat for easy writing and the pages are bullet-journal-like in that there is an index page and the pages themselves are numbered. The pages are lined and work great for tracking workouts. Highly recommend for wet/dry environments.

Holds up to serious wear and tear!
I bought one of these for my son to take to Basic Training in the military. It became his most prized possession during that time. The size fit perfectly in the cargo pocket of his uniform, so he was able to take it with him everywhere. He was able to take notes and write down anything he needed to remember, even out in the weather or on field training exercises in bad conditions. It was thoroughly soaked a time or two, but still held up and allowed him to write, even on wet pages. This became a daily journal for him where he could write down every detail he wanted to remember about the experience so he could remember to tell us in the next letter or visit. Now he has a great memento of that time that we'll treasure always. I highly recommend!

Perfect Field Notebook
I work outdoors in all types of weather. These notebooks are the best for taking and keeping notes no matter what the elements throw at you. Works great with regular pens or a pencil, no need for a special pen.

Ideally Overbuilt
This is a journal (or notebook) meant to be used. Compared to others, well, there IS no comparison. Many of them are quite good & fulfill many purposes, but the model 390F is "top o' the heap." I previously used the 4"x6" RITR top spiral-bound version & they were also very well-made. However, the 390F is for use even in severely prohibitive conditions & still come away unscathed. I compared prices per square inch between the 4"x6" I previously used & the 390F. The cost per square inch for the 6-pack 4"x6" RITR top spiral was about $0.002 while that for 6 of the 390F was nearly twice that at $0.004. However, you have to take into consideration the 390F has a protective hard cover & its binding is sewn & glued. Pages are individually numbered (a legal asset, if needed), & space is alotted for a table of contents. What I'm illustrating is that the 390F is a superb product & is fairly priced. It's made in the U.S. which is a resounding bonus. I ordered another 390F Journal, but there were subtle differences from what is shown in Amazon's listing. The cover is of similar quality but its colour is more of a dirty yellow. Its outside labeling is the similar but the font is different as show in my first photo. Inside, the page on which name, address & other information may be entered states "Horizontal Line Book" rather than "Journal Field Book." Neither of these differences is a big deal since the binding & material quality appear unchanged. However, I rely on its pre-numbered pages also described in the Amazon listing but none of the pages were numbered. That was a disappointment, but since it was only one journal, I entered page numbers in their upper page corners. Had this been an order of several, I'd have returned them as they clearly weren't what I paid for nor what was shown in Amazon's listing. It seems as though whoever is selling these notebooks received a supply of rejected &/or unapproved copies & is sending them to customers expecting true RITR No. 390F. As I said, the difference is quite subtle, but the unnumbered pages were a big negative for me. I paid for that feature & did not receive it. Since it was just one journal, I'll let it slide. This is to advise others who might order the same item & be disappointed in not receiving what they expected.

Gets the job done.
The hard cover, size, and the tear able pages makes this product great for the tasks I need done. Just be mindful that it can rub/chafe your skin if left in a cargo pocket for an extened period of time. I keep a rag in between the book and my leg to fix this issue.

Great notebooks. Watch the pricing though, tends to fluctuate to almost half its regular price.

As we would expect from the price this is a very well made product. The only problem I have discovered is that it is not possible to erase pencil writing without some smearing. I will try to experiment with different erasers. A clip for a pen or pencil would be a good addition, considering this is mainly for outside use.

I used mine in rain and snow, heat and cold, works exelent. I used mine in Oman desert, the Swiss alps and in the Kiruna swamps. My notes remains legable and the book retains its shape relativly well. A bit expensive but I have found no competitor that works as well.

Tutto bene ma la confezione di cartoncino era strappata. No problem per me ma essendo un regalo, non era molto carino.

Excellent product. This notebook held up extremely well to an entire outdoor field season including several days of heavy rain. The paper will get wet eventually, but only under very heavy rain, and it dries surprisingly well. Strongly recommended.
