Use it daily!
OK, so the plastic feels a little cheap & the rubber seems like it's not doing much, but definitely better than a hard case with no cushion. Of course a magnetic hard drive's head will still bounce if you drop it in this - but the case won't get scratched or dented! Easy enough to install, with a little squishing of the foam to get the connector in. And the unit is still pretty small and lightweight, so that always helps with the inertia problems of dropping something - well and putting it in your bag of course. All in all a great little unit.

Ruggedized 2.5 Inch Waterproof And Shockproof Drive Enclosure
I really like this drive enclosure! It's ruggedized exterior and integrated USB cable with storage is just what I need. I'll take the slightly larger exterior of the drive for It's durable rubberized exterior. Easy to hold on to and being waterproof and shockproof definitely helps to protect uou data. Drive housing works as it should and drive run at the speed of the cable or the drive depending on how fast the drive is you install. USB is 3.0 compliant so can support faster speeds as well. For the price, I think it's a steal!

Very good case and solid customer service!
It works great and customer service is great too. For those who found a problem like it cannot be recognized by the computer and windows want to initialize the disk, please make sure that the HDD is really connected to the connector in the case. That problem is highly likely that the HDD is not really connected to the connector in the case. if you really connect the HDD to the connector in the case, the thing works just great. Definitely worth the price. I have been use the case for more than a year and I am happy with this case.

Works well. A bit clunky. Built-in cord too short.
I bought a 1TB SSD to use with a new laptop that has limited, very expensive M.2 RAM. Since the SSD is expensive, I shopped for a shock-resistant case and this one with its promise of meeting a MIL spec looked good. I've noted the complaints about seemingly "defective" units and the remedies offered, so I was really careful about making sure that the SSD was fully seated. You have to push aside the seals to make visual verification of proper seating. It's easy to see how people may have inserted a drive and thought it was fully seated when it was not. Anyway, I put in the SSD, plugged the six-inch built-in cord into the USB 3.0 socket and the unit and then the drive were immediately recognized. I also tried it on a powered USB 3.0 hub with the same results. The six-inch cord length may be dictated by the design of the unit, but it is, in my opinion, too short. I will be carrying a short USB extension cable with this. On the other hand, the six-inch cable wraps snugly along the side and it isn't going to be lost or misplaced, which is one of the reasons this unit appealed to me. I don't know if this unit will live up to its shock-resistance claims and I am not going to be dropping it on a concrete floor to test it. But if appearances are any indicator, this unit is definitely built to absorb the effects of bumps and falls. Very impressive, in fact. The enclosure has a "macho" design which doesn't move me much and it is understandably larger than normal external drive housings. Six tiny screws secure the base plate to the housing. A small screwdriver is provided and my unit came with eight screws, which is nice because these screws dropped on a carpet are not going to be easy to find. The screws are going into silicone, not metal or hard plastic. You have to be very careful of not over-tightening them. Overall, I think I'm getting my money's worth in this case and that my SSD will be pretty well protected. I did use CrystalMark to benchmark my SSD in this case and it seems fast enough in my limited testing, which is good enough for my needs and under these circumstances. I'll be using this primarily for project storage and will transfer necessary files to the internal M.2 of the laptop, which is blazingly fast. Jerry

It's got a MIL-Spec rating, and it looks like it too..
I needed a robust enclosure for an HDD that was replaced by an SSD. Since this was an old MacBook 5400 rpm HDD i wanted a shock/dust/etc. resistant enclosure that would not bottleneck data transfer. This is perfect for that role, and the attached 3.0 USB type A makes it hassle free when i need to use it. Now i have a bulletproof portable/backup and that drive stays out of the trash, and i buy less stuff. Win Win. Yes it looks a little sci-fi/overdesigned aesthetically, but what doesn't anymore..?

This is my top choice.
First of all the cable is permanently attached. I LOVE THAT You don't lose the cable, you don't have an extra one to keep up with, it stows well, and it works well. I get great USB 3 transfer speeds. If you're like me and you happen to have a bunch of 2.5" drives sitting around gathering dust, this is an excellent way to turn them into portable drives. This model is the rugged one. It's a little more difficult to install the drive than the budget model, but it's worth the extra work. This thing reminds me of mobile phones I've carried around in Otter Box cases in the past. I carry a drive in my military style MOLLE backpack and I'm not worried about damaging anything. It's water resistant and impact resistant, exactly what someone who's rough on stuff like I am needs. I keep budget ones at home, I keep this one with me.

Smart rugged effective design with convenient cable storage
Great design at a great price. Opens easily with 6 phillips screws that keep hard shell secured around a pliant rubber gasket/bumper and carrier that cradles the drive. Drive slides into carrier securely. Carrier provides very substantial shock absorption and looks like it should also be well-sealed from moisture (i didn't test but it leaves no doubt). Shell is rigid and strong. Integrated sturdy USB cable stores easily and securely around outer edge of bumper offering further shock absorption for an edge hit. Cable storage provides protection for the USB plug. Installed drive is detected immediately. Data transfers at full drive speed (e.g., 75 MB/s) Blue LED shines through one side of case to show operation.

Broke within a few months
Im a videographer and was using it as a backup. Probably used it a few times a week to offload 20gb onto. Within a few months the product broke leaving me with a working hard drive but broken enclosure. This is decent and it is built well but it still broke.
