Best of British!
Bought this step down transformer to use with a vintage Marantz Hifi amplifier set to US voltage. Unit is well made and quite heavy but sits well in the UK socket. Worked immediately it was all plugged in and connected. No issues at all. This transformer is made in the UK and it’s great to support a British company.

Never have I been so happy
I have wanted something like this to work for me for so long that I can't even explain. After years of waiting and hard work, I've finally found what I was looking for and hoped for. For so long too. To begin with I have to say that you need to do your research, not every ps2 will work I think and check the difference in voltages and watts between the UK and USA. Make sure you know what you are doing before you even try otherwise you will feel the stress that I did. I was looking up information about whether you can use an american PS2 in europe and wasn't getting very hopeful answers. Most of them were about chipped PS2's, emulators and then heard all about region locked games. I wasn't getting anywhere and this made me really depressed. I then looked at some converters but didn't really understand how they worked so that was no good for me either. I really didn't want to do emulation but I thought I was left with no other choice. I spent the whole day looking at how to work emulators and it turned into one confusing and distressing video after the other. I finally found one that looked pretty simple and that I was going to do but then I found out that I still couldn't do it. All hope was gone, I thought there was no hope left and had the worst headache ever from all the stress and sadness from it all. It was all turning into a nightmare. I didn't know what to do anymore but I couldn't give up. I decided to use my brain and look into more detail about it all. After finding out about which converters might work, I looked up a few and saw some promising ones but not entirely suitable. Then I found this one. It all looked very promising, it seemed like the exact one that I needed. With the questions I needed answering, what voltages, etc. I brought this and it arrived very quickly but I had to wait another 2 or 3 weeks for my american ps2 to arrive. I didn't get my hopes up too much but it felt so nice to have the most hope and biggest chance of this happening yet. The PS2 arrived and I was excited yet nervous at the same time. I plugged it all in, turned the PS2 on and it came on like normal. I couldn't handle my joy. I literately for the life of me couldn't believe it. I'm still shocked at how well it works, it works like a normal ps2 would without any real issues. When I saw the PS2 menu appear on my TV it felt surreal. Because of this, I now have so many more games to look forward to playing and I feel they will be good games which is exactly why I wanted this so badly. After going through so much stress, sadness and depression it means so much to me that this worked. It's made such a difference mentally as now it will always be in the back of my mind that it worked out in the end. I'm so happy :D Thank you very much.

As described
Works as it should. Slight flicker in the lights, I use it to plug in American fairy lights, this is probably due to it being a transformer

Cut Out After 30 Mins - Don't think this is really 50VA. More like 30/40VA Transformer
I bought this to use with an American Toshiba XA2 HD-DVD player. The back sticker on the rear of the player states it is 47w. And from googling peoples use of a kill-a-watt meter it is stated the XA2 runs at 33w. I therefore felt a 50VA premium Transformer would be more than enough. The 100VA version was nearly double the amount of this one. So I connected up. Watched around 30 mins of my first film and the HD-DVD player cut out. I disconnected the plug and left it 10 mins. Reconnected and the player came back on and so I tried to watch the movie again. This lasted less than 10 mins before the player cut out again. I have therefore packed this back up and begrudgingly bought the 100VA version. If the Transformer is not 50VA. Then it should not be advertised as so. If (and I am just guessing this) the 50VA is the peak and not the standard capable running VA of this transformer then it should be advertised as the standard running VA not the peak which will cause it to cut out after 30 mins of use at this wattage. If it had of been stated on the box this was really a 40VA transformer it would have saved me, Amazon and everyone else so much hassle as I would have known to buy the next model up. And not buy this. Find its inadequate, have to send it back and reorder the next model up anyway.

Expensive but worth it.
This kind of product is not the sort of thing one should cut corners on in my opinion. It’s worth paying a bit more to avoid house fires or issues with the products you plug into it. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS AND UNDERSTAND THE LIMITATIONS. I see a lot of reviews of these types of products that get low ratings from people who are using them in inappropriate ways, with incompatible or cheap products. While some of these converters are not well built there is a lot of scope for user error when it comes to these things. This particular item is well made and reliable. It is quite heavy. One of the best quality to value options available. I have had it for months and have used it in continuous operation scenarios and it doesn’t even get excessively hot. I cannot fault it. Highly recommended product especially if you can get a damaged box Amazon Warehouse one.

Works perfectly on my American halloween inflatable cat.
Absolutely fabulous, needed a power down adapter for my American halloween inflatable cat and this has done the job perfectly. Happy grandchildren. Lovely and quiet too.

Works perfectly, made in the UK baby!!!
Not sure what Sheerness and Thiccnesss has to do with anything, but sure, these puppys are sheer and thiccc, I guess. But I bought this to step down some god-tier US headphones from 240v to 110v so I could use in the UK. works absolutely perfectly. Not just that, they're made in the UK! That's right somewhere in Ilford are a bunch of British factory workers making these god-tier step down converters and you can just tell from the packaging and the product that this is top-quality UK stuff, not your usual MIC rubbish. So if you are going to be pumping 240v through something that needs 110v and you want something to step it down and don't want to rely on a dubious Chinese product that may burn your house down when it overheats, buy this! It may have been made by a bloke called Dave and it looks and feels like something British. Quality, Wholesome and Trustworthy. (not sure I can be any more enthusiastic about a plug adapter but you know, it's made in the UK!)
