Product Description The K8400-BT BuildTak sheet is an easy-to-install, heat-resistant, long-lasting 3D printing surface. BuildTak is a thin, durable plastic sheet that adheres to the print bed of FFF (fused filament fabrication) 3D printers. It provides an optimal printing surface for 3D objects to adhere to for the duration of a print, while allowing for a clean, easy removal of completed builds. It is suitable for: K8400 Vertex 3D printer. Dimensions: 215 mm x 240 mm. Box Contains 1 x Buildtak 3D Print Bed Surface for K8400 - 215 Mm X 240 Mm

Buyer Beware
I'll preface this by saying the buildtak worked well, almost too well for the first few prints, adhesion was excellent, if not a bit difficult to remove from the platform. The biggest problem with it however is it's total lack of instructions, application was fine but when it comes to cleaning it, it's super easy to ruin it. I used a very small amount of isopropyl alcohol on a cloth to lightly wipe it down and now nothing will stick to it at all. There are no warnings or instructions packaged with it, and after much googling I found buildtak's support page that states not to clean it with anything stronger than rubbing alcohol. That's 13 quid wasted.

The solution for printing polycarbonte
I bought this as a last attempt to get anything usable out of some Hobbyking polycarbonate I bought on sale a while ago. I'd tried glass with various adhesives at ever increasing temperatures but the warping was always too much after a few layers and the prints peeled right off. Having seen Polymaker sell Buildtak with their PC filaments, I reasoned it would be a good option for my more generic stuff.Adhesion to the PC was excellent. First trial was on a raft (also often recommended for PC) at 140C bed and 280C nozzle. The part stayed stuck (there was major delamination further up the thin-walled part, probably due to low nozzle and chamber temperature) and the raft peeled off the surface with a little encouragement. The second attempt was a small Companion Cube straight onto the surface at 130C. That came out as well as any filament would, which was great, but the nozzle was set a bit close and removing it took a chunk of the sheet with it. Fortunately it wasn't in the middle so I have plenty of usable area and this was my fault. It does mean this experiment was a success and I can now print the toughest rigid plastic fairly easily! This particular sheet seems to be good value compared to other build surfaces on Amazon. The text and logo are actually translucent, not white. I haven't yet used it for any other materials as I prefer my tested method of 3D Lac on glass.

Not as hoped
Got this in an attempt to get things to stick to the hot bead on my Anet A8, I found that for the first 6 prints it was amazing however it quickly deteriorated after the initial prints to the point I couldn't get anything to stick to it even after glue stick and hair spray.I cleaned it between prints with 70% rubbing alcohol that is recommended as the stuff to clean it with. After I gave up I got a sheet of glass and have found it to be way more reliable and in the long run a lot cheaper.

this build surface is great, however i wish it was thicker like the LokBuild Plate as this is easily dent and scratched, so far its been tested with PLA, looking to try ABS soon(21/02/2018)Edit:ABS is great on it, just print with the correct level of smush with a brim and your laughing,Dont use a BLTOUCH, its deviation from homing to homing is really bad, and produces really bad looking heightmaps on the Reprap Firmware, becuase of this the build plate kept being destroyed.

Quite a sticking point. Sorry for the tacky pun. Sorry.
It certainly does the job - using it on an(other) Anet A8 printer it works incredibly well. So much so that it's a bit difficult to get the print off the bed after you're finished until you get the hang of it!Gone are the days of spraying the bed with copious amounts of Wilko Value hairspray and using masking tape for those pesky ABS prints!

Sticky, Good looking , easy to apply and nice and rigid.
I found this build plate to be really easy to apply, nice and rigid and also looks a lot better than the standard painters tape some printers come with. I used this with my Anet A8 although it was a bit wider than my build surface so it required a bit of trimming with a scissors which wasn't too hard to do. I would recommend having a plan for removing larger based prints from this surface however as one of my prints took a solid hour to remove while scraping away at the bottom.

Sticks like a big fat sticky thing from sticky land
STICKY STICK STICK STICK! This thing is unreal! before this I was using masking tape and it was always a challenge, but now I just hit print and walk away, no problems whatsoever.Installation was a doddle, I just removed my bed, stuck down the Buildtak surface and trimmed the edges. For the screw mounts I sliced a cross though the Buildtak with a scalpel and simply reassembled as normal. Works perfectly!I'll definitely be buying this in the future.

Stop using tape and buy this!!!!
I have purchased two of these now. first one I did not do a great job of fitting and had a few bubbles. I left it on and glad I did, this is one of the greatest surfaces for 3D printing. Adhesion is great and using PLA not bed temp required.I replaced only because I accidentally scratched the surface deeply and this carries to my printed object.Great Item and will continue to buy when the next one gets broken by me.
