Q: Has anyone managed to get the loop the loop to work? (it goes in but flies out again onto the table without looping. Any tips?

Mine did the same and took a while - you have to angle the rails just right by twisting the rail supports just right. Around a bend the outer rail should be higher than the inner rail. Also the ball must be touching the rails at all times - if jumps / hops then it will probably fly off. You may need to make the diameter of the loop smaller - the ball may loose too much speed and loose contact around the 12 o'clock position.

Q: What age is it suitable for

I have Spacerail 3, and this is quite tricky to set up, more time consuming really to get it all set right, than anything. Not too technical, and the instructions are great, but with someone younger it may be helpful to have an adult to help too. I should think a 10 year old would cope OK, with assistance, and I have heard of a man aged 70+ who found it very good therapy to build it! A teenager with a practical and manual aptitude would love it. (I am 58, and I built this fine.) Very good when it all works properly, and fascinating to watch it run. I bought 5 extra balls for mine, (13mm ball bearings from the internet) - and it is a lot more interesting to watch. Mine is on a side table where it will not get disturbed, looks great and was worth the money and effort - people are very amazed to see it running. A bit too noisy to leave it running constantly though, but is fine for a couple of hours at a time, and I am using a rechargeable battery, - I do not know why the instructions say not to use a rechargeable. I hope this helps, and if you assist a bit with the building, you will have much fun too!

Q: How big is the finished product

Sorry unable to give exact dimensions as had to dismantle as too big to go on permanent display. I would guesstimate about 30 inches long, 12 inches wide and 18 inches tall.
