🌌 Never miss a moment—track the stars like a pro, wherever you are!
The Celestron 93514 AstroMaster/PowerSeeker Motor Drive is a single-axis right ascension motor designed to add precise star tracking to compatible equatorial mounts. Battery-powered and easy to install, it compensates for Earth's rotation, enabling long-duration observation with minimal manual adjustment. Its hemisphere switch and speed regulator make it versatile for global use and various celestial targets.

Flip the N/S switch
A bit noisier than I expected, but does its job and was easy enough to set up. Just one thing: My telescope is a Celestron 130EQ with a CG-3 mount, and I had to flip the switch to S, even though I'm in the northern hemisphere. Also, make sure that your telescope is balanced and that the screws are not too loose.

Does what it says.
Does what it's intended to do. If you have a equatorial mount, in alignment with Polaris, it'll keep whatever you're looking at in the view, counteracting the spin of the Earth. It comes with brackets for a Celestron CG-2 or CG-3 equatorial mount and hooks onto the opposite side of the R.A. slow motion control (you can disconnect the manual control if you want, because this device ties the manual control to the motor so you can't turn it, but I find that on a CG-2 mount, just unscrewing the connector is enough to give you back manual control without having to remove the motor entirely from the telescope). It can sometimes get in the way when moving your telescope around the sky (e.g. to look at stars in the South while in the Northern hemisphere), but on those mounts quite a lot of things get in the way anyway. It only takes a minute to disconnect it and reconnect it if you really need to. It does whir, but it's not very loud - enough to let you know it's working. Otherwise, seems to do exactly what it's supposed to.

Easily fitted to my Cellestron telescope
Easily fitted to my Cellestron telescope. Works well. Thought it didn't work at first but the whole reason of this item is to track the movement of planets. Forgot that the movement is so slow. Once I realised this I found it very accurate in following planets. I am more than happy with the purchase.

It saves time as you don’t have to use both hands together.

Keep objects in your eyepiece, despite the rotation of the Earth
First of all, this product will only be worthwhile if you know how to set up your telescope's mount in alignment with polaris (or the celestial south pole), AND you can reliably find the objects in the sky you are looking for. the good points: -The Celestron 93514 Astromaster Motor Drive comes with a 9v battery and I found that it attaches to the telescope's R.A Slow motion control fairly easily and reliably. -Once you are aligned with polaris and you are pointed at the object you want to look at, the motor very slowly turns the R.A to counter the rotation of Earth, keeping the object in the eyepiece. -It is VERY useful when using high magnification eyepieces as planets, stars and nebulae tend to fly out of the field of view of the eyepiece rather quickly! The bad points: -There is a manual variable speed dial that you will have to set to the correct speed depending on the declination you are at. this fairly easy to judge correctly, although sometimes it takes a bit of trial and error, moving it both ways a few times before being able to keep the object you are looking at perfectly in the middle of the field of view. -Once it is attached, you will lose the ability to turn the R.A slow motion by hand, instead relying on using the motor to bring objects into view(which can take a while if they are quite far out of view). -The Celestron 93514 Astromaster Motor Drive IS NOT an automatic finder! It will not find the objects for you, it only helps to track them once you have found them. Overall I have found it very useful for taking long exposure photographs, and viewing planets for extended periods with high power eyepieces. The bad points are fairly easy to get used to and work around. One more thing to mention, when up and running it does emit a slight whirring sound, although it is not particularly loud and will only bother the most noise sensitive of neighbours at night.

Great little motor drive
Good little motor drive for telescope at a very reasonable price.

Does what it says
I have only had time to use the drive once so far, but it holds stars in position (as long as you align 'scope properly). Note: this device will NOT find stars for you, nor is it claimed that it will. For that you will be looking at a much more expensive bit of kit!

Five Stars
Does the job. Can be a bit tricky trying to adjust the speed to keep the object in view.

I need to drive my telescope for planet and moon pictures. I've not set up the 10Mpixel camera yet, but manually adjusting the drive speed, gets real close to ideal. Just fine for simply viewing the stars. Ran for hours on a 9 volt battery and still going. Note, you have to readjust the telescope every1/2 hour to avoid interferrence and parts running into each other. Guess a manual telescope is just not made for hours of continuously running on a motorized drive.

Not only does this inexpensive little guiding motor simply work...it has a (very tiny) button to adjust the drive rate. There are two brackets for different types of Celestron mounts...CG-2 and CG-3. But wait! There's MORE! One of the brackets fit my Orion Min-EQ (EQ-1) mount perfectly. I recognized this from the picture at Amazon and from searching the web. You won't get high-accuracy tracking for long-exposure photos or long-term viewing (But, what do I know?! Maybe you WILL!). But this motor will allow tracking a wider fields of view through a telescope and wide-field photography, as long as you can set your equatorial mount up to align with the celestial poles. The motor is noisy.... But who cares?!
