Does the job
A quality product, easy to use. Records 1:1 interviews very well. When played back on the recorder it is not very loud but when session uploaded to PC it is crystal clear, loud and even picked up the sound of workmen through the windows about 20 metres away. It is fit for purpose.

Simple to use recorder
I use this to record voice and guitar in my bedroom. OK, it's no a professional recorder but quite adequate for my needs

I am 91. I had an Olimpus mini cassett which was easy to operate. I bought the 741 with the hope that it would help me. Instead, I have a complicated machine with a user manual of 68 pages. All I wanted was to record and playback my notes. Now I have a complicated piece of expensive equipment. Is there anything that can be done to help me? No doubt it is a wonderful machine but how does it help me? Can you help me?

A waste of money and time from Olympus.
This is very expensive for a very poor recorder. The instructions are difficult to follow. Erasing the recordings is really a fiddle, it took my wife and I nearly a day to work out how to do this. The volume even on full is very low, I could only hear the recorded voices by holding it against my ear.Just a waste of money and had to return it. Sony do a much better product the ICD-BX140. The Olympus in ear microphone is excellent for recording with the Sony. It fits in the ear and then you just use the phone as normal, no need to hold the in ear microphone. Makes a very good duo with a good loud speaker.

This is the second Olympus Voice Recorder I've bought (had an older model, to begin with) and it performs very well. The sound quality comes into its own, once you connect the device up to your PC, if you want to do that.

Una gran grabadora
La compré para grabar las clases de la facultad y le doy un 10. He realizado grabaciones desde los 7-8 metros incluso más con una calidad perfecta, supera a cualquier teléfono móvil. A través de su USB incorporado se transfieren rápidamente los archivos al MacBook Air. Mejoraría el aviso de consumo de batería y quizás si fuera de metal daría sensación de más resistente. Yo le doy un 10.

l'appareil correspond à la description.Quand on l'a en main, on dirait un peu un jouet mais il ne faut pas s'arrêter là.Utilisation pas compliquée : c'est facile de comprendre qu'il faut appuyer sur "rec" pour enregistrer et "stop" pour arrêter.le fait qu'il n'y ai pas besoin de câble USB pour transférer les enregistrement directement sur notre ordi c'est très pratique puisqu'en effet, la connectique est intégrée à l'appareil.Bonne restitution du son.

Sehr gutes Preis Leistungs Verhältnis
Ich hatte vorab ein Notetaker von Philips bestellt (DVT 4000 - ca. 78 €). Im Vergleich hierzu hat das VN 741 (ca. 47 €) eine wirklich tolle Sprachqualität, sowie eine intuitive Menüführung (Kurzanleitung ebenfalls in Deutsch nabei). Sehr interessant und hilfreich ist das Koppeln mit dem PC über den ausschiebbaren USB Anschluss. Hier ist eine ausführliche Bedienungsanleitung enthalten, sowei eine beschriftbare Ordnerstruktur. Sie können somit Ihre Aufzeichnungen "personalisieren", abspeichern, an Beteiligte versenden und z.B. über den Windows Media Player abhören. Bei vernünftigen Lautsprechern auch hier eine "Hammer mäßige" Ausgabequlität.Szene Modi: Von den angebotenen 6 oder 7 Modi habe ich nur 3 (Diktat, Gespräch und Konferenz) ausprobiert. Diktat (Gerät als Mikrofon nutzen - Abstand 10 - 15 cm), Meeting / Treffen (einfach auf den Schreibtisch legen - Abstand ca. 40 - 80 cm), Konferenz (im Raum platzieren - Abstand ca. 1.5 - 3.0 m). Ich war mit allen 3 voreingestellten Szenen sehr zufrieden, so dass ich mir persönlich zeitaufwendige manuelle Korrekturen (Rauschfilter, etc.) komplett ersparen kann.Das Einzige, was ich mir wünschen würde, wäre ein etwas höheres Gewicht zwecks Haptik, ist aber subjektiv.
