Silverline? I'm not sure.
I have mislaid my old one and brought this as a replacement. I am a fan of Silverline tools so opted for this one. It arrived very quickly but, I suspect that it ISN'T a Silverline product as it doesn't have their name on it and isn't of the quality that I had expected. However, It is of adequate quality and as it was so cheap and does it's intended job I have no complaint about it.

Cheap and cheerful
It’s a cheep product and you get what you pay for , it’s ok for light jobs , removal of small soldering connections but once the planting tip touches very hot large amounts of solder it will start to melt thus making it harder to use and eventually rendering it useless with and replacement tip husk ...

Cheap and decent
Let's be honest, where can you find aluminium bodied solder suckers for £2 delivered elsewhere? Super cheap and very cheerful - I bought 3 of these as I knew I was probably going to need a replacement at some point, but so far the first one's still doing well enough so I'm happy. These, are actually metal bodied with nylon tips, so they don't have any problems with melting tips (unless you use them badly). The sucking action is very strong, which is great if you've got big hands like me which don't mind it, but not so great if you've got a more delicate touch as it'll cause your hand to jerk. Overall, I can't complain. For £2 each, they well surpassed my expectations and have proved their worth.

It does the Job
It sucks up solder. So chances are it does what you need it to. However if you're looking for great build quality or something that will last ten years, look elsewhere, it has the build quality of an average solder sucker... which is to say it feels like it will fall apart, but somehow does not. The only metal part is the tube which is silver in the picture and the internal mechanism, mostly plastic. The force of the suction it creates is impressive, and it sucks solder, there's not really much more to say about it. Would recommend, especially for this price, brought one for work and one for hobby, both going strong.

Never soldered before but was still able to use this without destroying the board - or the house....
I purchased this to enable me to undertake a de-soldering job on a headphone amplifier I purchased. Having no soldering experience or skills I had to spend a bit of time on Youtube to fully understand the process. All videos featured an item such as this one to complete the job. The item works by sucking up solder melted by a soldering iron. You simply load the item by pressing the sucker down, and release when ready to suck by pressing the release button. The item is simply constructed, but that is to its benefit. It sucked up the solder I had melted simply and then released it once cooled. There is not much else you can ask this to do!
