Olympus Tele Converter for Tough TG-1

As long as you know that you need an Olympus adapter to use it and it only works to get from 100mm to 170mm 35mm equivalent, this adds a bit more reach to the TG7. It’s well made and useful.

Great optical and built quality but not as useful as the wide angle lens. It is a fixed magnification that works only ant the end of the zoom range, otherwise you will see kind of a tunnel look effect. If you plan to leave it on the camera and be able to use your zoom rockers it will not work. If you want the camera to have a bit more zoom and you don't mind it will work very nice.

This teleconverter works well, as long as you accept it only works at full zoom. If you try to use on wide angle you will get black circle with tiny picture in. Does make the camera heavier. Easy to fit, as long as you buy the adapter to fit it.

I bought an Olympus TG5 on holiday in Vienna last year - the price was right and I wanted a small camera to pop into a pocket rather than carry an SLR all the time. I then saw this advertised and bought it. It has proven to be an excellent addition to my pocket camera kit. It is small and compact but provides a useful extension to the zoom at the telephoto end of the range without compromising on image quality. I've seen reviews where people complain that it vignettes at other points of the zoom range - what did they expect from a teleconverter! Used at the max telephoto setting - I am glad that I bought it. It proved its worth in Brussels at Christmas at the Christmas market, enabling me to get shots at a distance that would have been difficult otherwise. It screws on rather than a bayonet fit, so not so good for lightning changes, otherwise I am very happy with it.

This adds nothing to the camera. The lens itself doesn't add anything to what the camera already did. It just is a lens to restrict what is already seen through the lens, creating a circle frame to every image. I purchased it as I wanted all the extras to the camera to maximise the best images and this does not do it. It fits well and no issue with how it connects and is built well but functionally I have no clue what it adds to the camera now I have it. Comparing it to my other camera and lenses, this was a let down.

The quality is good and it works but I am just not sure I could highly recommend it. It only works at max zoom and to be honest doesn't exactly make a huge difference. If it was cheaper definitely but at this price?

Great bit of kit to add to your gear.

This lens gives a good image but only at one setting. Unless the camera is set at max zoom then there is either severe vignetting or a pin hole effect. One can get the same results buy using the normal camera and cropping or digital zoom. It is also large and not quick to fit or remove unless one leave the (expensive over priced) adaptor on it. I am a big fan of Olympus, owning PEN, OMD 10 and OMD 5 bodies and Pro lenses. This lens is a big disappointment.
